Yates picked up the save over the Angels on Saturday, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
Yates took the mound with a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and retired the side on just nine pitches to secure his 33rd save of the campaign. The veteran reliever has been spectacular in the month of September, recording eight saves while allowing just one hit over 9.1 scoreless innings (10 appearances). Rangers' Kirby Yates: Nails down 32nd save
Yates walked one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his 32nd save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Angels.
The 37-year-old righty converted his 11th straight save dating back to Aug. 19, a stretch in which he's posted a dazzling 0.63 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB over 14.1 innings. Yates' injury history remains concerning, but his outstanding comeback campaign in 2024 sets his up for a big payday as a free agent this winter.

Yates kept the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, and the Rangers walked it off in their half of the frame. Yates picked up the save over Toronto on Wednesday, striking out two over a perfect ninth inning.
Yates took over for David Robertson to start the ninth with the Rangers up 2-0 and got Vladimir Guerrero to go down on strikes in the opening at-bat. The veteran reliever then needed nine pitches to get through the final two batters and log his 31st save of the campaign. Yates has converted all six of his save opportunities in September and hasn't allowed a run since Aug. 29 against the White Sox. He's also recorded multiple strikeouts in two of his last three appearances.

Yates entered the contest to protect a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning and needed 11 pitches to get through the first two batters before allowing a single to Victor Robles. The veteran reliever was then able to get Julio Rodriguez to go down swinging for the final out while securing his 30th save of the campaign in the process. Yates has converted each of his last nine save opportunities, including five this month. He's allowed only one hit and one walk through five September appearances, posting a 6:1 K:BB over that stretch.

Yates walked one and struck out none in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Angels.
Yates has pitched four of the last five days and secured a save in each of those appearances. He's allowed just one run over his last 9.1 innings since his lone blown save of the year Aug. 18. The 37-year-old is up to 29 saves in 30 chances while maintaining a stellar 1.29 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB over 55.2 innings this season. Yates earned a save against the Angels on Saturday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.
Yates had little trouble closing the door in the ninth frame, preserving a two-run lead with a 1-2-3 inning on just 12 pitches. The right-hander picked up his third save over the past four days and is now an outstanding 28-for-29 in save conversions on the season. Rangers' Kirby Yates: Nabs save Wednesday
Yates retired the only batter he faced to earn the save in Wednesday's 10-6 win over the Yankees.
The Rangers didn't look to be in need of their closer at first, but Matt Festa and Grant Anderson struggled in the ninth inning. Yates inherited runners on the corners and two outs after Anderson was struck by a batted ball and had to leave the game. Yates was able to get Giancarlo Stanton on a flyout to end the game, picking up his 26th save of the year in the process. He's converted five straight save chances and added two wins while giving up just one run over his last 6.1 innings. Overall, Yates has a 1.37 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 75:24 K:BB through 52.2 innings this season.

Yates (6-2) picked up the win in Saturday's 3-2 victory over the A's, allowing a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning. He struck out one.
Entering a 2-2 tie in the top of the ninth inning, Yates put a couple runners aboard with two outs but got Daz Cameron to fly out to end the threat, and the Rangers closer was rewarded when his team walked it off in the bottom of the frame. Yates blew his first save of the year Aug. 18, but it was otherwise another strong month for the veteran right-hander, who delivered a 1.93 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 22:6 K:BB over 14 August innings.

After a rough weekend series against Minnesota in which Yates suffered a blown save and a loss across two appearances, the veteran righty looked sharp in this 15-pitch performance. The 37-year-old retired the 8-9-1 batters in order, as he's now made 12 straight appearances with a punchout. Over that span, Yates has been one of the league's best closers, pitching to a 2.57 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 22:6 K:BB while going 6-for-7 in save opportunities across 13 frames.

The Rangers had a five-run rally in the seventh inning to sneak ahead, but Yates couldn't protect the one-run lead in the ninth. Yates entered the game with the score tied in the top of the ninth and retired the first batter before surrendering back-to-back walks. The right-hander would then see a run come home after allowing both runners to advance on a wild pitch, followed by a sacrifice fly from Carlos Santana. It was only the second loss of the season for Yates, with the previous one coming back on June 18 against the Mets. The earned run was also the first that's been charged to the veteran this month, while Thursday's appearance was his first in 2024 in which he issued multiple walks.

Yates struck out one in a perfect 10th inning Wednesday to record his 21st save of the season in a 9-7 win over the Red Sox.
The veteran right-hander needed only nine pitches (seven strikes) to carve up the heart of the Boston order. Yates still has yet to blow a save chance in 2024, and since the beginning of July he's delivered a stellar 1.13 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB through 16 innings.

Yates (4-1) picked up the extra-inning win Monday against the Astros, pitching two innings while allowing one unearned run and one walk. He struck out four.
The Texas closer entered during a 2-2 tie in the ninth inning and returned in the 10th to secure the win. Yates was charged with an unearned run when the automatic runner in extra innings scored after he plunked Jeremy Pena with the bases loaded. This marks the 23rd career win for the 37-year-old reliever, as he has pitched to a splendid 1.08 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 59:19 K:BB across 41.2 innings this season.

Rangers' Kirby Yates: Nails down save No. 20
Yates gave up two hits and struck out two over 1.1 scoreless innings Saturday to record his 20th save of the season in a 7-4 win over the Red Sox.
It's the first time since April 21 that Yates has worked more than one inning to notch a save, but the veteran right-hander hasn't seemed to care how many outs he needs to get the job done. He has yet to blow a save in 2024, and after four injury-plagued years he's managed to re-discover the form that saw him lead the majors with 41 saves in 2019 while earning NL Cy Young Award votes. Yates' 1.13 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 35.5 percent strikeout rate this season are also comparable to his 1.19 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 41.6 percent K rate from 2019.
