Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Sent outright to minors
Hatcher was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Julian McWilliams of The Athletic reports.
Hatcher was dropped from the team's 40-man roster in order to free up space for younger players in need of protection from the upcoming Rule 5 draft. The veteran right-hander posted a 4.95 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 30:17 K:BB across 36.1 innings of relief for the A's in 2018.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Blows save vs. Angels
Hatcher allowed three runs on three hits in the ninth inning to blow the save Sunday against the Angels.
Hatcher entered the inning with a 4-2 lead and proceeded to find trouble right from the beginning. After allowing a lead-off single to Shohei Ohtani, Jefrey Marte beat Hatcher for a double. Taylor Ward capped off the disastrous outing with a two-run walkoff home run. This marked Hatcher's second appearance since Sept. 4. It doesn't seem likely that he will make the postseason roster.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Contract selected Saturday
Hatcher's contract was selected by the Athletics on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Hatcher was designated for assignment by Oakland in early August after posting a 4.24 ERA over 34 innings. The 33-year-old should take on a low-leverage role out of the bullpen for the final month of the regular season.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Clears waivers, heads to Triple-A
Hatcher was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Hatcher was designated for assignment on Friday, and after making through waivers, he'll head down to the minor leagues. He owns a 4.24 ERA and 1.65 WHIP with 28 strikeouts through 34 innings out of the bullpen with the Athletics this season, so he figures to serve as a September callup when rosters expand.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Designated for assignment
Hatcher was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Friday.
He was removed from the roster to make room for Fernando Rodney. Hatcher has a mediocre 4.24 ERA in 34 innings this season, with uninspiring strikeout and walk rates (18.0 percent and 10.9 percent, respectively).

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Scant workload in June
Hatcher has fired four scoreless innings across three June appearances, allowing three hits and four walks while recording five strikeouts.
The 33-year-old right-hander went a full 12 days (May 31-June 11) without seeing any action, and he subsequently went another six between appearances this month until being called upon in Wednesday's win over the Padres. Hatcher has actually proven reliable of late after a rough start to the season, as he's generated scoreless efforts in eight of his last nine appearances overall. He's in line for the occasional decision as a middle reliever, but his fantasy value remains limited to very deep formats.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Hit with loss Monday
Hatcher (3-2) allowed an earned run on three hits over two frames in an extra-innings loss to the Rays on Monday. He also recorded two strikeouts.
Hatcher certainly wasn't bad during his time on the mound, but he did surrender a go-ahead single to Mallex Smith in the top half of the 13th, saddling him with the loss. Although the 33-year-old right-hander saw a four-appearance scoreless streak snapped with Monday's stumble, he retains an impressive 1.46 ERA across 12.1 May innings overall.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Pivotal relief contributions Thursday
Hatcher fired two scoreless innings in Thursday's win over the Mariners, allowing two hits and recording a strikeout.
After spot starter Josh Lucas worked up to 52 pitches in just two innings, Hatcher came in and gave manager Bob Melvin a pair of valuable frames. The 33-year-old right-hander has seemingly turned it around in May, following a rough April in which he generated an 11.37 ERA over eight trips to the mound. Hatcher has allowed just one earned run in the 10.1 innings spanning his seven outings this month, and he's demonstrated his versatility by working multiple frames in three of those appearances.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Surrenders winning run Saturday
Hatcher (3-1) allowed an earned run on two hits and two walks over 1.2 innings in an extra-innings loss to the Yankees on Saturday. He also recorded a strikeout.
Hatcher worked himself into trouble after retiring Didi Gregorius on an inning-opening flyball by issuing a walk to Giancarlo Stanton, who moved to second on a fielder's choice. A second free pass -- issued to Aaron Hicks -- set up a game-winning single by Neil Walker. It's the second straight rocky outing for the veteran reliever, who'd also allowed three unearned runs over three innings against the Astros his previous time on the mound.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Solid in multi-inning stint Monday
Hatcher allowed two unearned runs on three hits and a walk over three innings in a loss to the Astros on Monday.
After starter Brett Anderson survived just three-plus frames, Hatcher came on to eat up some innings for manager Bob Melvin. His one hiccup came on the two-run home run he allowed to Marwin Gonzalez, but he was largely effective otherwise. The veteran right-hander has settled down recently after a rocky start to the season, lowering his ERA from 11.12 to 6.55 by allowing just one earned run over the 6.1 innings encompassing his last five appearances.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Grabs third win of season
Hatcher (3-0) pitched two-thirds of an inning of shutout ball during Oakland's extra-innings win Saturday, allowing one walk.
Hatcher was credited with the win after closing out the top half of the 12th. The veteran right-hander has scoreless efforts in three of his last four trips to the mound, representing his most effective stretch of pitching this season. The 33-year-old's Saturday appearance was also his shortest thus far in terms of pitch count, as he got through it with only eight offerings.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Scoreless frame in win
Hatcher fired a scoreless seventh inning in an extra-innings win over the White Sox on Wednesday, recording a strikeout.
The 33-year-old right-hander bounced back nicely from a rough outing against the Mariners his last time out, one in which he'd allowed three earned runs on a pair of home runs. Hatcher has now alternated three scoreless efforts with three multi-run tallies over his six April appearances, leading to an unsightly 13.50 ERA over 4.2 innings during the month.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Two earned runs in one inning Thursday
Hatcher (2-0) gave up two runs on two hits in one inning of work against the Rangers on Thursday. He did not factor into the decision.
Hatcher entered the game in the top of the ninth with Oakland only trailing by one, and -- following a Juan Centeno single -- he proceeded to give up a two-run, two-out home run to Shin-Soo Choo. The 33-year-old has allowed a hit in each of his four appearances, and, although he has yet to walk a batter on the year, Hatcher has vultured a couple of wins already but hasn't struck anyone out since Opening Day. Seeing as he doesn't get save opportunities, Hatcher will need to eliminate games like the one in order to become any sort of a reliable fantasy option.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Second win of season Monday
Hatcher (2-0) allowed a hit over a scoreless two-thirds of an inning in Monday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.
He's now sandwiched two strong appearances around a disastrous outing against the Angels in Sunday's series finale, when he allowed three runs on four hits over two-thirds of an inning. Hatcher looks primed for a lot of appearances this season if his early workload is any indication. Given his ability to put in a robust number of innings, Hatcher could see a solid number of hold opportunities as well as occasional wins over the course of the season.

Athletics' Chris Hatcher: Notches Opening Day win
Hatcher (1-0) fired a scoreless 11th inning in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Angels, allowing two hits and recording two strikeouts.
He made it interesting in the top of the 11th, allowing Martin Maldonado and Zack Cozart to reach on singles with two outs before getting Mike Trout swinging to snuff out the threat. Hatcher isn't likely to find himself in position for many wins this season, but Marcus Semien assured him one to kick off 2018 when he laced a game-winning single in the home half of the frame.
