Painter will throw in spring training but not in games. He will build up in the minors before coming to the big leagues.

Matt Gelb@MattGelb18H agoPhillies plan to save Andrew Painter's innings for "July-ish," Dave Dombrowski said. Painter will throw but not pitch games in spring training, then build in minors at some point. As for the bullpen, Dombrowski indicated they are likely done adding.

Scott Lauber@ScottLauber19H agoThe #Phillies have agreed to a one-year contract with righty Joe Ross, the team announced. It's a $4 million deal, according to a league source. Ross fills the need for a swingman starter/reliever (essentially the Spencer Turnbull role). Payroll is projected at $306 million.
