Already host to a college football bowl game in addition to its day job as the home of New York's American League franchise, Yankee Stadium will play host to its first soccer game on July 22.
The team announced it would host a game between Chelsea of the English Premier League and Paris Saint-Germain of France's Ligue 1 on July 22.
The previous Yankee Stadium was home to Pele and the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League and hosted many of the world's great soccer teams and even the national teams of England, Italy, Israel and the United States.
The match is part of the World Football Challenge that will also have the Blue Jays' Rogers Centre hosting a July 21st game between Toronto FC of Major League Soccer and England's Liverpool, which is owned by Red Sox owner John Henry.
