Now this looks painful.

On Friday night, Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira and Red Sox catcher Ryan Hanigan were both hit in the right hand by the same pitch. The ball deflected off Teixeira's hand and down into Hanigan's throwing hand.

To the action footage:

The two of them hopping around is a pretty funny visual. Unfortunately, we can't sit around and laugh. Hanigan had to leave the game, and x-rays confirmed he suffered a fracture in his hand. He will need surgery and miss a substantial amount of time. Teixeira remained in the game.

As much as I want to laugh at them for the whole jumping around thing, I can't bring myself to do it because of Hanigan's injury. That's a really tough break for the Red Sox, who are already without projected starting catcher Christian Vazquez. He had Tommy John surgery in the spring.
