It'll take a "monster return" for the Marlins to trade Josh Johnson, wrote ESPN's Jayson Stark.
- Stark quotes an official that spoke with the Marlins who estimated the odds of Johnson staying with Miami are "95 percent."
- If the Marlins do trade Johnson, they want a package built around "a young, star-caliber player who isn't arbitration eligible," according to an MLB executive.
- A number of teams are said to be interested in Johnson: Red Sox, Angels, Rangers, White Sox, Blue Jays, and Royals.
- Miami wants to move Ricky Nolasco, Heath Bell, Carlos Lee and Gaby Sanchez, but Johnson and Giancarlo Stanton are likely to stay put.
- Stark also wrote about the Phillies, and their desire to trade Shane Victorino and Joe Blanton. They're unlikely to get what they want in return -- "multiple young, big-league ready players" -- in return for Hunter Pence.
- CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler wrote earlier on Wednesday that it's not out of the question that the Phillies try and trade Jimmy Rollins and/or Cliff Lee.
- In Los Angeles, the Dodgers aren't done. They're still after a starting pitcher and Stark links them to Ryan Dempster, Matt Garza, James Shields, Jason Vargas, Nolasco, Blanton, and Kevin Millwood.
- The Dodgers are also looking for a first baseman or left fielder.
- Thanks to the addition of Wandy Rodriguez, the Pirates could move a starter, potentially Jeff Karstens or Kevin Correia.
- The prices are high in Minnesota for Justin Morneau, Denard Span, and Josh Willingham, but Stark noted that it's all but certain Francisco Liriano will be traded.
- In Tampa Bay, the Rays will wait "another few days" before making a decision on the future of James Shields. In the meanwhile, "a big market" has developed for the services of right-handed pitcher Wade Davis, who has put up great numbers pitching out of the Rays' bullpen.
