Yes, we know it's early. Yes, there's no possible way he can keep this pace up. And yes, the Dodgers have only played the Pirates and Padres so far this season. Still, Matt Kemp's stat line right now is sick.

Through just 10 games, Kemp is hitting .487/.512/1.026. Yes, that's a 1.538 OPS. He also has six homers, 16 RBI, 13 runs and 19 hits. All of those counting stats lead the majors.

Oh, and most importantly: Kemp's Dodgers are now a major-league best 9-1.

Sure, he may have fallen behind on stolen bases -- since his goal is to go 50-50 this year -- as Kemp is just one for three in stolen base attempts. But everything else is so overwhelmingly good that the lack of steals is pretty irrelevant.

More Kemp/Dodgers
Everyone knows Kemp has tons of talent. Last season, he hit .324/.399/.586 with 39 homers, 126 RBI, 115 runs and 40 stolen bases. The Dodgers failed to contend, however, so Kemp had to settle for second place in MVP (for the record, I believe MVP is an individual award in a team sport and wouldn't penalize a player for his teammates not being better. Simply: I'd have voted for Kemp to win the MVP).

If things moving forward even remotely resemble what we've seen thus far, Kemp won't be a runner-up to anyone in MVP balloting. In fact, he's surging toward the "best player in baseball" label.
