Baseball is at a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, leaving many ballparks across the country unusually vacant. But for one minor league baseball team, they're improvising and coming up with a unique way to keep their ballpark in action amid the COVID-19 shutdown. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A Southern League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, placed their ballpark up for rent on Airbnb.
Blue Wahoos Stadium is currently listed on the site for $1,500 per night and can accommodate up to 10 guests. Included in the rental, guests will have access to the Wahoos' newly-renovated clubhouse, a large bedroom, the batting cage and baseball field during their stay. According to the Airbnb listing, the Wahoos' clubhouse includes four leather couches, two flat-screen TVs and a ping pong table among other amenities. Guests will be able to access the batting cage with bats, balls and helmets provided, and they will be able to enjoy full and exclusive access to the baseball field. A Blue Wahoos staff member will remain on-site throughout the stay to answer any guest questions and provide security.
The once-in-lifetime experience isn't the only offering the Wahoos have set up during baseball's shutdown. The club is also hosting movie nights, takeout services for lunch and dinner, family-sized meals and grocery item pickup as well as a nine-hole disc golf course designed by Blue Wahoos co-owner and PGA Tour golfer Bubba Watson.
