The winter auction over on Lelands.com just concluded on Friday at 9 p.m. ET and one of the most impressive items was a Babe Ruth bat from the 1930-31 range. From the official Lelands website:

The formidable Hillerich and Bradsby model weighs in at nearly 40 ounces (39.7 to be exact) and is 35 inches long. From later in The Bambino's unprecedented career circa 1930 and '31 when he was in his mid-30s, the bat is accentuated by the "George 'Babe' Ruth" branded on the barrel in script lettering.

The final price realized in the auction? A cool $70,443.67.

Holding out hope it was a relative of mine. There are a few spots in my office -- which, obviously is in my mother's basement -- where it would fit rather nicely.
