Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth is reportedly not in uniform Tuesday night before the game and is set to undergo some tests on his injured right shoulder (masnKolko on Twitter). The issue is in his A/C joint and he has some inflammation, but manager Matt Williams told reporters this isn't a situation where Werth is expected to land on the disabled list.
Werth, 35, is hitting .279/.370/.430 with 27 doubles, 12 homers and 63 RBI this season.
With Nate McLouth and Steven Souza on the DL, the Nationals have rookie Michael Taylor as the man replacing Werth in right field Tuesday.
Taylor, 23, will be making his major-league debut. He hit .315/.401/.547 with 20 doubles, 22 homers and 35 stolen bases in 102 minor-league games this season (98 in Double-A, four in Triple-A).
