The year is 1980, and Harry Caray is the voice not of the North Side Cubs but rather of the South Side White Sox and the cauldron of primal urges in which they were once housed. What follows is video footage of his leading the singing of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," and the safe assumption is that Mr. Caray has, reliably, just polished off one of those "tall, cool Budweisers."
Before we roll tape, a sampling of some of the delights to follow:
- Old Comiskey
- Old Comiskey, half-filled.
- Brawl in the parking lot (not pictured).
- Collared White Sox uniforms.
- Shirtless guy in jeans at a night game, which evokes late-70s/early-80s baseball like almost nothing else.
- "All right, Nancy!"
- The gentleman at 0:50, who is a gentleman.
- That guy, that Son of Thunder with -- holy magnificent crap -- two broken arms (!) at 0:59.
Onward:
In case you missed it, here's that guy again along with an official count of the number of broken arms on his person:
In conclusion, White Sox vs. everybody.
