Angels outfielder Collin Cowgill suffered a broken nose and right thumb Saturday night on the same pitch, as it ricocheted off his thumb and hit him in the nose. MLB.com has the video, for those interested.

Cowgill is expected to miss four to five weeks as his thumb recovers, and he also needs to undergo surgery for the broken nose (via ocregister.com). Infielder/outfielder Grant Green has been recalled to take the roster spot of Cowgill, who obviously hits the disabled list.

Cowgill, 28, is hitting .277/.354/.407 with five homers and 16 RBI in 200 plate appearances this season. He had been platooning with Kole Calhoun, but Calhoun has been so hot lately that he started to get most of the starts, regardless of the opposing pitcher.
