Rory McIlroy reportedly worth nearly half a billion
Rory McIlroy is probably the second-wealthiest golfer in the world behind Tiger Woods. Here's how he made all that dough.

Rory McIlroy is wealthy. We all know that. But I bet you didn't know exactly how wealthy the Ulsterman was. According to the Irish Examiner, McIlroy is worth nearly have a billion dollars.
The value of the McIlroy brand — that persuaded the likes of Nike to enter a reported $250M 10 year deal with the 26-year-old — is underlined by the Dublin firm placing a $422.13M book value on the firm’s intangible assets connected to the golfer’s brand.
So that seems good.
McIlroy has great sponsors too. Between Nike, Bose EA Sports and Omega, he's doing OK for himself. The underlying $422M number sort of contextualizes the quote McIlroy had at the Tour Championship earlier this year.
McIlroy was asked if he had a plan for what he would do with nearly $12 million if he won.
"No," he said. "Luckily, that amount of money doesn't sort of mean much to me anymore. So, no. I mean it's not a -- it will go in the bank and if I want to buy something nice, I will. It's not really anything that -- I mean like it's nice to think that you could win 10 million dollars this week, but that's not what excites me."
It wouldn't excite me either if I was worth nearly half a billion. Still, money can't buy the best swing in golf (which McIlroy also possesses).
Just put it on a loop. pic.twitter.com/yED9z7pVl6
