Graeme McDowell got married last weekend to long-time girlfriend Kristin Stape in the Bahamas.
But that wasn't the real news.
The real news was that, gasp, Rory McIlroy wasn't there.
According to this article in the Herald, McIlroy bailed because he had a photo shoot in the United Kingdom with Nike and Wayne Rooney.
"One half of the biggest bromances in golf, friends had widely tipped McIlroy to be the one who would stand by McDowell as his best man on his big day.
However, McIlroy hit the town with Manchester United striker Rooney on the same night that McDowell was toasting his new wife with a small party of less than 30 people.
McIlroy cited work commitments in the UK as forcing him to miss out on his best pal's nuptials.
'Rory was in the UK to do a photoshoot for one of his sponsors Nike,' a spokesperson for the golfer told the Herald. 'Wayne Rooney is another Nike athlete and they did the shoot together.'"
It feels like that's a little bit strange given that the two are buddies, though the wedding was apparently really small and it seems like their relationship has cooled a bit over the past few years after McDowell's criticism of McIlroy leaving his management company.
Either way, congrats to the newly married McDowells, maybe the McIlroys will follow suit at some point.
Nah, probably not.
