2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am leaderboard, grades: Rory McIlroy secures second signature event win of career
McIlroy earned the 27th PGA Tour win of his illustrious career
Well, he's done it again. Rory McIlroy was simply brilliant over the weekend at the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as he carded a final-round 66 to claim a two-stroke victory at 21 under over Shane Lowry in the PGA Tour's second signature event of the season.
The win marks the 27th of McIlroy's PGA Tour career, moving him to 22nd all-time, and his 42nd worldwide title as a professional. He has now raised a trophy every year -- with the exception of an injury-marred 2017 -- dating back to 2009 with his latest victory extending that record into 2025.
McIlroy's triumph also comes in his season debut, which has become a bit of a habit as his win at Pebble Beach represents the third time in the last four seasons that he has won in his opening start on the PGA Tour. This one comes in California, which is only the second time the Northern Irishman has entered the winner's circle in The Golden State -- this one doubling as his second win in a signature event.
Beginning the day one stroke off the lead of Sepp Straka following a sensational bogey-free 65 on Moving Day, McIlroy eased his way into his round. An up-and-down par on No. 1 and a birdie on the par-5 2nd saw McIlroy's name climb up the pylon as Straka struggled with his swing.
Once McIlroy's name reached the top of the leaderboard, it never left. A hefty diet of pars through the middle portion of his front nine was halted when he converted for birdie from 13 feet on the picturesque par-3 7th. The lone hiccup of the weekend came on the very next hole and breathed life into the tournament as chasers like Lucas Glover and Tom Kim attempted to make their presence known.

Both Kim and Glover slipped up around the turn just as McIlroy's playing partner and good friend, Lowry, mustered together a charge. The 2019 Open champion made birdies on three of his first five holes on the back nine with the last losing him ground to McIlroy who made mincemeat of the par-5 14th.
Taking an egregious line off the tee and leaving himself a 7 iron into the 570-yard par 5, McIlroy found the surface with his second. A long distance connection from 29 feet doubled his lead to four and slammed the door shut leaving his counterparts helpless.

Bullying his way around the uncomfortable corridors of Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach, McIlroy put together as complete a performance as we have seen from him. Launching prodigious drives, sawing off wedge shots and holing putts with consistency, the world No. 3 took his best to the best players in the world and came away with the latest addition to his well-kept trophy collection. Grade: A+
Here are the rest of the notables on the leaderboard at the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
2. Shane Lowry (-19): After getting off to a rough start that included a three-putt bogey on No. 3 and dropped shots on Nos. 6 and 8, the Irishman dug deep. A great back nine gave McIlroy something to think about as he cut his lead to three with a birdie on No. 14 and down to two a couple holes later on No. 16. A laser approach into the par-3 17th raised the potential of reopening the tournament door, but Lowry was unable to cash in on the opportunity. While he won the Zurich Classic with McIlroy in 2024, Lowry still has only one individual title, which he earned in the summer of 2015. Grade: A
7. Tom Kim (-16): The 22-year-old touched the lead after a rare birdie on the par-4 9th but was never able to seize it for himself. Making a bogey a few holes later, Kim dropped two shots back and out of the running for what would have been his biggest title to date. Kim employed a new putter this week, choosing to forgo lining up his golf ball on the greens, and it paid dividends. After a down year with the putter, Kim could return to the winner's circle should that quality on the dance floor continue. Grade A-

He takes a share of the @attproam lead with a birdie on No. 9 pic.twitter.com/WvZaEc6FFA
T8. Scottie Scheffler (-15): Outside of winning the golf tournament, it may have been the ideal start to the 2025 season for Scheffler. Getting off to a solid start, Scheffler plodded his way around Pebble Beach without any true jaw-dropping moments and slowly moved his name up the leaderboard. His short game looked rusty, and he lost his fair share of drives to the right, which was peculiar, but his iron play was pristine. If he gets the driver in order by next week, he'll be in the mix at TPC Scottsdale where he has won two of the last three years. Grade: B+
T48. Justin Thomas (-7): The floor and ceiling performances are just too far apart for Thomas to contend without his best stuff. An opening 66 on Spyglass Hill propelled him into contention once again, but forgettable rounds at Pebble Beach were littered with too many mistakes and rendered his week trophy-less once again. The 15-time winner carded three eagles in his final three rounds but played them in a combined 1-under fashion. Grade: D+
T69. Jordan Spieth (E): There were early signs of life from Spieth in his first start since offseason wrist surgery as he opened his tournament with a couple rounds of par-or-better. Talks of optimism were quickly halted as he carded a 79 on Saturday, which included a quadruple-bogey 9 on the par-5 18th. Spieth got back on the horse with a Sunday 67, but he still ranked outside the top 60 in strokes gained approach and strokes gained putting -- two areas where he struggled mightily last season. Rory slams the door shut
The BIG BIRD LANDS ON NO. 14. Rory doubles his lead on the par 5 and goes from two clear to four ahead with four holes to play. He's at 20 under and well on his way to yet another victory on the PGA Tour. It's been a brilliant weekend from the four-time major champ.
Rory goes two clear
What a birdie from our leader. Lasering a long iron into the par-3 12th, McIlroy connects from 9 feet for his second birdie of this back nine. He is now two clear at 18 under with Lucas Glover and Shane Lowry posing as his closest pursuers as Lowry has carded two circles in a row.
Rory pulls ahead again
That was a stunner from the fairway bunker. Hitting his second into No. 10 to 17 feet, McIlroy makes his third birdie of the afternoon to reach 17 under and one clear of Tom Kim and Lucas Glover. He has put some ground in between himself and his playing partners as Straka is now two back and Lowry three.
Scheffler looking to post
Somehow the world No. 1 is only four strokes off the lead as the leaders play their way through the turn. Tom Kim has joined Rory McIlroy and Sepp Straka at 16 under and Scheffler just tacked on a birdie on No. 11 to move to 12 under. He has two par 5s in front, so it'll be interesting to see what he can post.
