After a week on Maui for the Tournament of Champions, the PGA Tour hops from one island to the next. Now, it's on to Honolulu this week for the Sony Open, the first full field tournament of 2022.
After three rounds, Russell Henley still holds the lead in Honolulu thanks to late putts hat put him at 18 under heading into Sunday's final round.
Henley is joined by a more wide-open field that should result in a different viewing experience than last week's Tournament of Champions. While this field is competitive -- only one golfer entered Thursday at better than 15-1 to win -- the course itself is much tighter.
Regardless, it's Hawaii, and Waialae is a Seth Raynor original design. Throw in a quality field hungry for an early win without some of the biggest stars in the game around to gobble them up, and we should be in for a competitive, exciting week in Honolulu.
