Top 2022 Open Championship predictions
One huge shocker the model is calling for at the Open Championship 2022: Rory McIlroy, the 2022 British Open favorite at 9-1, falls short of winning it all and barely finishes inside the top three. The 31-year old Northern Irishman has 35 combined wins on the PGA and European Tours and three major championships. He won the Open Championship in 2014 and finished third when it was held at St. Andrews in 2010.
He's been contending in majors on a regular basis, but inconsistent play continues to cost him titles. In the three majors this season, he's shot at least one round of 67 or lower, but he's also had at least one round of 73 or higher. The model is calling for him to fall short again, making him one of the favorites to fade in 2022 British Open bets.
Another surprise: Dustin Johnson, a 35-1 long shot, makes a strong run at the title. He's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Johnson might not be in the best form of his career right now, but this price for a player of his caliber is too much value to pass on. He has four top-10s at the Open Championship during his career, including an eighth-place finish last year. Johnson also carded a top-15 finish at St. Andrews in 2010, so he is familiar with this course.
