After a three-month layoff due to the coronavirus pandemic, the revamped PGA schedule continues this week when the 2020 RBC Heritage gets underway on Thursday, June 18 from Harbour Town Golf Links. Experienced and amateur bettors alike will lock in 2020 RBC Heritage bets on this star-studded event, which brings together the top PGA players to compete at a highly challenging course. The 2020 RBC Heritage field features plenty of household names like Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Rickie Fowler.

At William Hill, McIlroy, the No. 1 ranked player in the world, is going off as the favorite in the latest 2020 RBC Heritage odds at 11-1, followed closely by Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau at 16-1. The first 2020 RBC Heritage tee times are at 6:45 a.m. ET on Thursday, when players like Ben An and Doc Redman will let it fly. SportsLine's prediction model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has nailed two of the last three majors entering the weekend. It predicted Gary Woodland's first career major championship at the U.S. Open even though he wasn't the favorite entering the weekend. The result: Woodland held off a late charge from Brooks Koepka and won by three strokes. The model also called Koepka's historic victory at the 2019 PGA Championship, predicting he'd hold his lead in the home stretch.

In all, their advanced computer model has nailed a whopping six majors entering the weekend. And already this season, the model called Justin Thomas (15-2) winning the CJ Cup, Rory McIlroy (11-2) taking down the WGC-HSBC Champions and Viktor Hovland (11-1) earning his first career PGA Tour victory at the Puerto Rico Open. McClure also returned a whopping +788 during the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge last week, including nailing top-five bets on Xander Schauffele at 13-2 and Collin Morikawa at 9-1. Anyone who has followed his golf picks has seen huge returns.

The model's top 2020 RBC Heritage predictions 

One huge shocker the model is calling for: Bryson DeChambeau, a five-time PGA Tour champion and one of the top-three Vegas favorites at 16-1, stumbles and doesn't even crack the top five. He comes in with momentum after recording four straight finishes of fifth or better. But consistency has been a challenge for the SMU product who turned pro in 2016. He finished outside the top 50 at the Phoenix Open earlier this year and started the 2019-20 PGA schedule by missing the cut at Greenbrier. 

Although he's been crushing the ball off the tee with a 321.3 yard average driving distance, accuracy has been a concern. DeChambeau ranks 122nd on tour in driving accuracy at 60.44 percent and has hit only 220 of a possible 364 fairways this season. The model has factored that in and is fading him this week, making him one of 2020 RBC Heritage favorites to avoid in a loaded field. 

Another surprise: Xander Schauffele, a 22-1 long shot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

Schauffele doesn't garner the same attention as many of golf's biggest stars, but he's made plenty of noise on the PGA Tour this season. He earned a runner-up finish at the WGC-HSBC Champions and Sentry Tournament of Champions, and has finished in the top 25 in eight of his nine starts. Last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge, Schauffele earned a third place finish after shooting four consecutive rounds in the 60s.

While Schauffele has not won a PGA Tour event since January 2019, the 26-year-old has all the tools needed to climb the 2020 RBC Heritage leaderboard. Schauffele is a long-ball hitter who averages 307 yards per drive, which ranks 31st on the PGA Tour. His ability to drive the ball deep into the fairway allows him to use his short irons to approach the green. That combination has helped him 73.20 percent of greens in regulation this season. He's a long shot you should be all over to climb the 2020 RBC Heritage leaderboard.
