FanDuel is one of several sportsbooks that are offering new users bet and get promos. FanDuel, however, is the only one with the caveat that the first bet must win in order to receive the bonus bets. At DraftKings, you can place the same $5 initial bet and wind up with the same $200 in bonus bets even if that first bet loses. While bet365's offer only includes $150 in bonus bets, you don't have to sweat your first bet hitting either. Fanatics recently changed its offer to include bet $30, get $300 in bonus bets in 16 of the states it operates in—allowing new bettors to wager at least $10 over their first three days to receive $100 in bonus bets each day.
The two sportsbooks where new users would have to put down more to potentially earn more are BetMGM and Caesars. BetMGM provides up to $1,500 in bonus bets that would match the amount of your first bet if it loses. But wagering a higher amount like $1,500 may be too much for many first-time bettors and could put them in an early hole if they start off on a cold streak.
Caesars' offer is that after your first bet of at least $1, you receive 10 100% profit boost tokens to potentially double your winnings for 10 bets. The maximum wager for each of those 10 bets is $25, and the maximum winnings for each profit boost is $2,500. You can bet up to $250 with this promo, so new bettors can earn more, but they can also lose more compared to the aforementioned bet and get offers.
MLB Opening Day
There are several intriguing matchups on tap, with the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees starting off the fun at 3 p.m. ET from the Bronx. Both teams made the playoffs last year but lost stars this offseason with Juan Soto exchanging his pinstripes for a New York Mets uniform and Brewers shortstop Willy Adames heading to the Bay Area with the San Francisco Giants. The Mets are also trotting out a former Yankee in Clay Holmes as their Opening Day starter, converting him from a closer after he blew an MLB-high 13 saves in the Bronx last season.
Arguably the most exciting pitching matchup of the day takes place at 4:10 p.m. ET, when the Pittsburgh Pirates battle the Miami Marlins. Pittsburgh phenom Paul Skenes will look to take a leap forward in his second season, and he's the NL Cy Young favorite at FanDuel at +200. His first start of the 2025 campaign will come against Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara, who won the prestigious pitching award himself in 2022.
Other former Cy Young winners throwing Thursday are Braves southpaw Chris Sale (2024 NL) against the Padres at 4:10 p.m. ET, as well as a battle between Tigers lefty Tarik Skubal (2024 AL) and major Dodgers offseason acquisition Blake Snell (2023 NL, 2018 AL) at 7 p.m. ET. The defending World Series champions have already raced out to a 2-0 start this campaign after sweeping the Cubs in Tokyo.
