The Belmont Stakes normally is the race where we see horses trying to complete their quest for the Triple Crown. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, that isn't the case this year. The 2020 Belmont Stakes, which takes place Saturday without fans in attendance, will be the starting point for 10 horses in their chase for immortality. Tiz the Law, which is seeking his fifth win in six career races, is the 6-5 favorite in the latest 2020 Belmont Stakes odds and will break from the No. 8 spot. And when it comes to the Belmont, Demling has delivered plenty of memorable paydays. In 2017, he said 5-1 sleeper Tapwrit would beat the heavily-favored Irish War Cry. Demling was spot-on, winning not just his exacta, but also his trifecta and superfecta, which paid out nearly $4,500 on a $2 bet. In 2018 Demling was all-in on Justify to dominate the Belmont, and Justify went wire-to-wire to become just the 13th Triple Crown winner ever.

Now, Demling has released his picks for the 2020 Belmont Stakes, predicting where the top contenders like Tiz the Law, as well as every other horse will finish. He's sharing all of it at SportsLine.

2020 Belmont Stakes predictions for Tiz the Law, Dr Post and Tap It To Win

One shocker: Demling is extremely high on Tap It to Win, even though he's a long shot at 6-1. The colt began his career last summer with second- and first-place finishes in his first two starts but followed with a pair of 10th-places, dropping him out of the 2020 Triple Crown conversation. Tap It to Win has gotten himself back in the discussion, however, by recording victories at Gulfstream Park last month and at Belmont Park on June 4. 

The latter win was an impressive one for Tap It to Win, as it came by five lengths in a 1 1/16-mile allowance race. While he may not display that kind of dominance on Saturday, he certainly can contend with two-time Belmont Stakes winner John Velazquez in the saddle.

Demling has locked in his 2020 Belmont Stakes picks for Sole Volante, who is listed at 9-2. He will be running for the second time in 11 days after winning a one-mile allowance race at Gulfstream Park on June 10. Sole Volante fell behind by nearly nine lengths but rallied to win by almost one.

Sole Volante has made all six of his career starts in Florida, winning four while finishing second and third in the others. He will compete Saturday from the No. 2 spot, which has produced a total of 11 Belmont Stakes winners.

Demling also has a strong read on Tiz the Law, the favorite in the Belmont Stakes odds 2020 at 6-5. Tiz The Law last starred at the Florida Derby, when he dazzled from start to finish en route to a 4 1/4-length victory at Gulfstream Park. Combining that effort with his graded-stakes win at the Holy Bull earlier in 2020 makes Tiz the Law perhaps the hottest three-year-old in recent history. 

Perhaps the only mark against Tiz the Law is that he hasn't raced in three months, though Demling is awed by the horse's 117 speed figure, the quickest of any Belmont starter this year. It is certainly possible that trainer Barclay Tagg could be keeping a bigger picture in mind for Tiz the Law, though, as the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Travers Stakes are part of a crowded late-summer schedule.
