Vrana logged an assist in Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Blue Jackets. Vrana has been in the lineup for the last two games due to injuries keeping Jonathan Marchessault (lower body) and Colton Sissons (lower body) out. The 29-year-old Vrana was scratched for six of the seven contests prior to this newfound chance to play. The winger has produced 13 points, 39 shots on net and a plus-2 rating over 33 appearances between the Predators and the Capitals this season. Since his role isn't particularly secure, Vrana is a poor option for most fantasy managers who need forward depth.... See More ... See Less

Predators' Jakub Vrana: Gets first goal with new team
Vrana scored a power-play goal on four shots in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Ducks. The tally was Vrana's first goal in three outings with the Predators since he was claimed off waivers from the Capitals. The 29-year-old has largely held onto a bottom-six role, though he may be pressured for playing time once Zachary L'Heureux (upper body) is ready to return from injured reserve. Vrana has eight goals, 12 points, 34 shots on net, 13 hits and a plus-6 rating over 29 appearances in 2024-25.... See More ... See Less -
Predators' Jakub Vrana: Claimed off waivers
Vrana was picked up off waivers by the Predators on Thursday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports. Vrana appeared in just 26 games for the Capitals this season but was decently productive when he could break into the lineup. In those outings, the 29-year-old winger managed seven goals and four helpers, including three power-play points. Minutes shouldn't be as hard to come by for Vrana in the Music City, with Ozzy Wiesblatt in danger of being sent back to the minors to make way for Vrana.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Waived Wednesday
Vrana was put on waivers by Washington on Wednesday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Vrana has seven goals and 11 points across 26 outings with the Capitals in 2024-25. He hasn't played for AHL Hershey this campaign, but that's presumably where Vrana will be sent if he goes unclaimed on waivers.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Handles spot duty Thursday
Vrana suited up and logged a shot on goal and a hit in 9:22 of ice time in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Blues. Vrana was in the lineup to cover for the absence of Tom Wilson (illness). Wilson is expected to play Saturday versus the Lightning, which likely means Vrana will be back in the press box unless another forward is unavailable. His appearance Thursday ended a stretch of 18 straight games as a healthy scratch. Vrana has 11 points, 28 shots on net and a plus-6 rating across 26 outings with the Capitals, but if the team upgrades its forward depth at the trade deadline, he could be shipped out in a trade or waived to save cap space. In any case, it's unlikely he becomes a regular in the lineup down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Can't crack lineup
Vrana has played in just two of 11 contests for the Capitals in January after sitting out Thursday's 3-0 win over the Kraken. The Capitals are 9-0-3 over their last 12 games, so it makes sense that head coach Spencer Carbery would stick with a winning lineup. Vrana has 11 points over 25 appearances this season, but there's no telling when his next chance to play will be. Ethen Frank has taken over Vrana's spot on the third line and doesn't appear likely to give it up any time soon.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Stays warm Monday
Vrana scored a power-play goal on two shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Bruins. Vrana scored for the third game in a row, and his last two tallies have come on the power play. While that was the Capitals' lone goal of Monday's contest, Vrana is doing his part to stay in the lineup after a long stretch of being scratched. The winger has seven goals, four assists, 24 shots on net and a plus-5 rating over 21 appearances, five points better than what he produced in the same number of games with the Blues in 2023-24.... Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Finds twine on power play
Vrana scored a power-play goal in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Kings. Vrana has gotten on the scoresheet in three straight games. He's in the lineup because Lars Eller (illness) is on injured reserve, and Vrana has made the most of his opportunity after being scratched for 10 games between Nov. 23 and Dec. 14. The winger is at six goals, 10 points, 22 shots on net, 10 hits and a plus-5 rating through 20 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Chips in goal Friday
Vrana scored a goal on his only shot in Friday's 3-1 win over the Hurricanes. Vrana put Washington up 2-0 at 16:11 of the middle frame by ripping one past Pyotr Kochetkov's glove side. The marker snapped a four-game goal drought for Vrana. The 28-year-old is filling a third-line role, but he saw only 6:48 of ice time in Friday's win. Vrana has made the most of his opportunities, as he's provided five goals and four assists while averaging 9:59 of ice time through 19 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Logs helper Tuesday
Vrana notched an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Blackhawks. Vrana was scratched for 10 games between Nov. 23 and Dec. 14, but he's now played in consecutive contests. Vrana and Hendrix Lapierre are essentially in competition for the last spot in the lineup, which is the third-line left wing slot. For the season, Vrana has eight points, 20 shots on net and a plus-5 rating over 18 appearances, so he shouldn't be expected to be a major fantasy contributor.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Scores again in Sunday's win
Vrana scored a goal in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Golden Knights. Vrana's tally was the game-winner, his first such goal this season. It came at 2:49 of the second period, and was his second goal in as many games. The 28-year-old winger is up to four tallies, three assists, 18 shots on net and a plus-5 rating across 14 contests. He may not be in the lineup every game and is often limited to bottom-six minutes when he plays, so Vrana doesn't have much fantasy value. Vrana surpassed his point total from 2023-24 (six in 21 games) with Sunday's goal.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Tallies on man advantage Friday
Vrana found the back of the net with a power-play marker in Friday's 5-2 win over the Avalanche. Vrana tied the game at 1-1 in the opening frame after receiving a pass from Pierre-Luc Dubois. Vrana added two shots and one hit in 11:49 of ice time. It was only the second occasion this season that the left-shot forward received more than 10:57 of ice time, so his role and opportunities are limited. Vrana has produced three goals, three assists and a plus-4 rating through 13 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Pockets assist in loss
Vrana notched an assist and two PIM in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Penguins. Vrana returned from a two-game stint as a healthy scratch. He had been replaced in the lineup by Michael Sgarbossa, who was sent to AHL Hershey on Thursday. Vrana now has five points and 14 shots on net over 10 appearances this season, but it appears he'll never be fully secure in the lineup. He's one point shy of his output from 21 games with the Blues last season, but the uncertainty in his playing time makes the 28-year-old winger a non-factor in many fantasy formats.... See More ... Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Accepts gift, scores in win
Vrana scored an unassisted goal on two shots in Thursday's 6-3 win over Montreal. If they were giving out assists to opponents, Montreal's Christian Dvorak would get one. He slid a backhanded pass from behind his own net right to Vrana, who beat Cayden Primeau on low shot to his far side. It was Vrana's second goal of the season and first in six appearances.... Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Manages helper Tuesday
Vrana posted an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Flyers. Vrana has two points through four contests to begin 2024-25, which has been enough to keep him in the lineup as a bottom-six forward. The winger has added four shots on net and a plus-2 rating. Vrana's ice time is too limited to make him a reliable source of offense in fantasy, and it's unclear if he'll be able to play his way into a more prominent role.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Tallies in win
Vrana scored a goal in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights. Vrana tallied in the first game of his second stint with the Capitals. The winger was a healthy scratch for the season opener, and he saw just 8:46 of ice time Tuesday, so he's not guaranteed to play every game. The 28-year-old struggled to six points in 21 appearances with the Blues last year, and at this stage of his career, he has a lot to prove on offense before he could be trusted again as a depth forward in fantasy.... Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Secures one-year deal
Vrana signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with Washington on Monday, per PuckPedia. Vrana attended training camp with the Capitals on a professional tryout agreement before landing a one-way deal with the team. The 28-year-old forward notched two goals and four assists in 21 regular-season contests with St. Louis in 2023-24. Vrana will compete for a bottom-six role with Washington during his second tour with the organization.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Secures tryout
Vrana agreed to terms on a professional tryout agreement with Washington on Thursday. Vrana saw action in 21 games for the Blues last year in which he notched two goals on 42 shots, four assists and nine hits while averaging 12:08 of ice time. The 28-year-old winger spent parts of five seasons with the Capitals, including the club's Stanley Cup-winning 2017-18 campaign. Heading into the upcoming season, Vrana will likely need to edge out the likes of Michael Sgarbossa or Sonny Milano to secure a permanent NHL deal -- though a two-way contract could also be an option for the Caps if Vrana is willing to go that route.... Blues' Jakub Vrana: Headed back to minors
Vrana was reassigned to AHL Springfield on Friday. Vrana's demotion comes as Justin Faulk (lower body) was activated off injured reserve in a corresponding move. In four games since being brought back up from the minors, the 27-year-old Vrana has served as a healthy scratch twice, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him dropped from the 23-man roster.... Blues' Jakub Vrana: Up from minors
Vrana was called up from AHL Springfield on Thursday. Vrana was waived Dec. 12 and reassigned to Springfield after scoring just two goals and six points in 19 contests with St. Louis. He excelled in Springfield, though, providing four goals and eight points in seven games. Perhaps his time in the AHL has helped the 27-year-old as he now looks to build off that success in St. Louis.... See More ... See Less
