  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Nabs helper Monday

Dumba recorded an assist, three blocked shots, two shots on goal and two PIM in Monday's 3-1 win over the Kraken. Dumba helped out on Matt Duchene's game-tying goal at 2:34 of the first period. This ended a 10-game point drought for Dumba, who has hardly been consistent on offense throughout the season. The 30-year-old is at just eight points with 43 shots on net, 63 hits, 58 PIM, 57 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over 55 appearances. He remains on the third pairing and is unlikely to be consistent enough in any area to help most fantasy managers.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: First goal of season Saturday

Dumba scored a goal on two shots, added two hits and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Oilers. The goal was Dumba's first of the year, getting the Stars within one of evening the score midway through the third period. They couldn't get the equalizer, but this is still a positive for Dumba, who has five points over his last 10 outings. For the season, the veteran blueliner has been limited to seven points, 34 shots on net, 54 hits, 46 blocked shots, 52 PIM and a minus-3 rating. He'll likely continue to occupy a third-pairing role.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Nabs helper in comeback win

Dumba logged an assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flames. Dumba helped spark the comeback effort by assisting on Wyatt Johnston's goal to get the Stars on the board in the second period. The helper ended a five-game dry spell for Dumba. The defenseman is now at six assists, 32 shots on net, 52 hits, 44 blocked shots, 52 PIM and a minus-4 rating over 43 appearances this season. He continues to play in a third-pairing role.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Assist streak at three games

Dumba provided an assist in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Devils. Dumba has logged a helper in three straight contests. Prior to this stretch, he had been limited to just two assists in his first 34 appearances of the campaign. He's now at five helpers, 29 shots on net, 51 hits, 38 blocked shots, 35 PIM and a minus-1 rating through 37 outings. Dumba won't be a massive producer on offense, but a strong showing over the next week or two could allow the Stars to address other needs at the trade deadline, even with Miro Heiskanen (knee) out for weeks and Nils Lundkvist (shoulder) done for the season.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Logs assist in win

Dumba produced an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Sharks. Dumba has a helper in each of the last two games after going 11 contests without a point. The 30-year-old defenseman remains in a bottom-four role, but he could move up the lineup if he builds some momentum. He's at four assists, 29 shots on net, 51 hits, 38 blocked shots, 35 PIM and a minus-2 rating through 36 appearances this season, so sustaining offense is likely to be difficult for him.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Gathers helper Friday

Dumba notched an assist, two shots on goal and three blocked shots in Friday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Kings. Dumba ended an 11-game point drought with the helper. He was scratched a few times in January, but his spot in the lineup is secure for now because Miro Heiskanen (knee) is month-to-month after surgery, and Nils Lundkvist (shoulder) won't play again this season. The 30-year-old Dumba has had an unimpressive campaign, earning three helpers, 28 shots on net, 50 hits, 36 blocked shots, 35 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 35 appearances. While he should be able to stick in the lineup, he'll likely be limited to bottom-four minutes.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: First point since return

Dumba logged an assist, two hits, four PIM and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Flyers. The helper was Dumba's first point in four games since he missed eight contests due to an upper-body injury. The 30-year-old defenseman isn't a lock for the lineup either -- he sat out Tuesday's game versus the Rangers and will likely have to compete with Brendan Smith for the last spot in the lineup. Dumba has just two assists with 20 shots on net, 20 blocked shots, 35 hits and 23 PIM over 23 appearances this season, so he can be passed over in fantasy.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Returning to lineup against Buffalo

Dumba (upper body) was activated off injured reserve and will return to the lineup for Tuesday's game against Buffalo, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports. Dumba missed the last eight games due to his upper-body injury, but he'll be back in action for the final game of the calendar year. The 30-year-old has been relatively quiet over 19 appearances this year, recording an assist, 31 hits, 16 blocked shots and 19 PIM while averaging 15:33 of ice time.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: On injured reserve

Dumba (upper body) was put on injured reserve Wednesday. The move is retroactive to when Dumba last played Dec. 8, so he can be activated whenever he is healthy. Dumba has an assist, 19 PIM, 31 hits and 16 blocks in 19 appearances in 2024-25. When available, the 30-year-old blueliner will likely serve on the third pairing.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Not playing Saturday

Dumba (upper body) will not play Saturday against St. Louis, Brian Rea of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports. Dumba will miss his second straight game as coach Peter DeBoer said Friday that Dumba is not week-to-week but he is not day-to-day. Dumba has one assist in 19 games this season. He was replaced by Lian Bichsel on Thursday and the 20-year-old defenseman potted his first goal in his NHL debut.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Won't play against Nashville

Dumba (upper body) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Predators, Brian Rea of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports. Dumba suffered an upper-body injury Sunday against Calgary that also forced him to miss practice Wednesday. It's not yet clear how long he'll be sidelined, but he'll be unavailable for at least one game, while Lian Bichsel is slated to draw into the lineup to make his NHL debut Thursday.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Dumba didn't participate in Wednesday's practice session due to an upper-body injury, Brian Rea of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports. Dumba apparently sustained an injury during Sunday's win over Calgary, and he underwent further testing instead of practicing Wednesday. Head coach Peter DeBoer called Dumba's absence from practice a precautionary measure, but it's unclear whether he'll be available for Thursday's game against the Predators.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: First point since return

Dumba logged an assist, two shots on goal, two hits, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Sharks. Dumba has been back for nearly a month since he missed four games with a lower-body injury, and this was his first point over 10 outings in that span. He didn't get on the scoresheet in either of his first two appearances, and the lack of offense saw him spend two games as a healthy scratch last week. Dumba has added 20 hits, 17 PIM, 12 blocked shots, 12 shots on net and a plus-1 rating over 12 contests this season, playing mainly in a bottom-four role. He could have some safety for playing time if Nils Lundkvist (lower body) misses time after exiting early Wednesday.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Ready to rock

Dumba (lower body) will play Tuesday against Buffalo after being activated from injured reserve, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports. Following a four-game absence, Dumba will replace Brendan Smith in the lineup. The 30-year-old Dumba hasn't earned a point in two appearances this campaign while providing two blocked shots and four hits.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Traveling with team

Dumba (lower body) will join the Stars for their upcoming two-game road trip, Brian Rea of Bally Sports Southwest reports Monday. Dumba has missed four games due to his lower-body injury but could be back on the ice soon. In his two appearances this year, the 30-year-old blueliner failed to get onto the scoresheet while registering four hits, two blocked shots and four PIM. He played alongside Miro Heiskanen at even strength before his injury, so Dumba would likely return to a top-four role when ready. In order to return to action, Dumba will need to first be activated off injured reserve.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Placed on injured reserve

Dumba (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, according to Brian Rea of Bally Sports Southwest. Dumba suffered the injury a week ago against the Islanders and is considered week-to-week. In a corresponding move, the Stars recalled Matej Blumel from AHL Texas because center Sam Steel (undisclosed) is questionable for Saturday's contest against Edmonton, and Tyler Seguin (lower body) is unavailable.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Won't require surgery

Dumba (lower body) won't need surgery but is considered week-to-week, Brian Rea of Bally Sports Southwest reports Tuesday. With Dumba on the shelf, the team called up Alex Petrovic from the minors in order to bolster its defensive depth. Still, it's Nils Lundkvist who figures to see the biggest uptick in ice time without Dumba on the blue line. Given his recovery timeline, Dumba will likely wind up on injured reserve sooner rather than later.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Needs further evaluation

Dumba (lower body) is set to undergo imaging and will be re-evaluated Monday, effectively ruling him out for Sunday's game versus the Kraken, Sam Nestler of DLLS Stars reports. Dumba was injured in the first period of Saturday's game against the Islanders. With the 30-year-old defenseman out of action Sunday, look for Brendan Smith to take on a third-pairing role, while Thomas Harley could jump onto the first pairing alongside Miro Heiskanen.

  • Stars' Matt Dumba: Makes two-year commitment

Dumba signed a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the Stars on Monday, Bob McKenzie of TSN on Monday. Dumba had four goals, 12 points, 88 PIM, 202 hits and 108 blocked shots in 76 regular-season contests between Arizona and Tampa Bay in 2023-24. There's an opportunity for him to serve in a top-four capacity with the Stars, though he's unlikely to see much, if any, time with the man advantage.

  • Lightning's Matt Dumba: Delivering plenty of hits

Dumba registered three shots and one hit Saturday in a 4-2 loss to the Capitals. Dumba has just one assist in 16 games with Tampa Bay since being acquired from Arizona, but he has managed to deliver in other categories. He has 46 hits, 21 blocks and 23 shots while averaging 18:51 of ice time per contest. Dumba's early-career offense in Minnesota has yet to be repeated, which limits his fantasy value.
