Red Wings' Jake Walman: Traded to Detroit

Walman was traded to the Red Wings from the Blues on Monday along with Oskar Sundqvist and a 2023 second-round pick in exchange for Nick Leddy and Luke Witkowski.

The Blues are upgrading from Walman to Leddy on defense, while a move to an inferior Detroit team could offer an opportunity for Walman to play more minutes. Walman rarely saw action on either of the Blues' top two defense pairings, as the 26-year-old defenseman totaled three goals and three assists while eclipsing 17 minutes of ice time only once in 32 appearances for St. Louis in 2021-22.
