Rust, who was originally absent due to maintenance, was not on the ice for Friday's game-day skate, Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The fact that Rust has now missed three days for maintenance reasons is now becoming a concern for fantasy managers. At this point, the winger shouldn't be expected to suit up in the preseason finale against the Blue Jackets on Friday and is likely questionable heading into Opening Night versus the Rangers on Wednesday. If Rust does miss out, Anthony Beauvillier and Drew O'Connor figure to flank Sidney Crosby on the top line.
