Thomas (undisclosed) was removed from injured reserve and sent down to AHL Ontario on Friday.
Even before getting hurt in the lead-up to training camp, Thomas was a long shot for the 23-man roster. The 21-year-old center figures to spend the bulk of the year in the minors and is unlikely to offer much in the way of fantasy value in 2021-22.
