Newhook scored a goal in Monday's 7-5 win over the Senators.
In a back-and-forth contest, Newhook put the Avalanche ahead for good with 1:33 left in the third period. The 20-year-old has been solid when in the lineup this year, producing two goals, two helpers, 10 shots on net and a plus-1 rating in six contests. Both of his tallies have been game-winners. Newhook will likely continue to play in a third-line role with the Avalanche a bit shorthanded at center due to injuries.
