Panthers' Jonathon Brooks: Fully cleared for offseason program
    13m ago

Brooks (knee) said Tuesday that he's been fully cleared to participate in the Panthers' offseason program, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

Brooks said he feels "close to 100 percent" after tearing his right ACL for the second time in Week 14 of the 2024 campaign. Brooks missed the entirety of the 2025 campaign but appears ready to contribute this season. The offseason has set up nicely for Brooks after Rico Dowdle left in free agency, leaving Brooks as the clear favorite to open the season as the RB2 behind Chuba Hubbard. AJ Dillon was signed to a minimum-level deal but has barely played over the last two seasons, and Trevor Etienne is a satellite back who mainly played special teams as a 2025 rookie.

Chargers' Tre' Harris: Receiver room competition
    36m ago

Harris could have competition within the wide receiver room after the Chargers selected Brenen Thompson 105th overall during the 2026 NFL Draft.

New offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel reportedly had significant interest in Thompson because of his blazing 4.26 40-yard dash, reminiscent of the wide receiver archetype he valued as a head coach in Miami. It's hard to tell if the Chargers will have designated plays for Thompson, or if that role will feature Harris, the 2025 second-round pick who made his bones at the collegiate level as a RPO specialist. Harris' rookie year was relatively mundane (30-324-1) despite playing all 17 regular-season games, but with Keenan Allen potentially no longer on the roster, there's overall more opportunities available in Los Angeles in what figures to be a more pass-happy scheme come 2026.

Burton appeared in all 34 of Denver's regular-season games during that span, rushing 14 times for 17 yards and a touchdown while catching all 13 of his targets for 73 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, he was a major special-teams contributor, tallying 10 total tackles and one forced fumble across 577 snaps. Expect Burton to assume a similar role for Cleveland during the 2026 season.

Now that the NFL Draft has passed, signings no longer count toward the compensatory formula for next year's Draft, which should lead to a flurry of activity around the league and its remaining free agents. Jennings hasn't drawn a known whiff of interest in his time on the market over the last month-plus, but this could help jumpstart his free agency. The 28-year-old had a productive five seasons in San Francisco, amassing 210 catches for 2,581 yards and 22 touchdowns as a trusted third-down and red-zone weapon for Brock Purdy in recent seasons. He'd be a terrific fit in Minnesota between Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers: Gets right-of-first-refusal tender
    4h ago

The Steelers assigned Rodgers the right-of-first-refusal UFA tender Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Rodgers reportedly had not notified Pittsburgh of his plans for the 2026 season ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, in which the team added Drew Allar (ankle) in the third round to join Mason Rudolph and Will Howard in the quarterback room. The right-of-first-refusal tender means the Steelers will receive exclusive negotiation rights with Rodgers if he doesn't sign anywhere by July 22, per Schefter, or the start of the summer's first training camp if that date is earlier. Before that date, Rodgers remains free to sign with another team, though Pittsburgh would have the right of first refusal, and by all appearances the 42-year-old veteran intends to stick with the Steelers if he plays another season. Rodgers' tender would provide a 10 percent raise on the one-year, $13.65 million contract he played under in 2025.

He was unremarkable as a rusher, carrying 56 times for 17 yards, though he recorded three touchdowns in that capacity. Luke Altmyer: Headed to Detroit
    3d ago

Altmyer is slated to sign with the Lions as an undrafted free agent, Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com reports.

Altmyer's best football trait is his brain. The fifth-year senior out of Illinois is a clutch passer, leading seven game-winning drives in the final minute or overtime in his career. The quarterback consistently finds clear sight lines and can deliver accurate balls with nice touch and rhythm. Despite not being wildly athletic, he is adept at finding an escape route when the pocket collapses. The root of all Altmyer's weaknesses is his lack of transcendent athleticism. He doesn't throw with power, is undersized, doesn't have exceptional ball security and has a lack of poise in the pocket. The positive news about a potential signing with the Lions is that Jared Goff isn't an exceptional athlete either by NFL standards, and the ability to learn from the pocket passer in an effort to fix some of these weaknesses could lead to future opportunities in the NFL for the 23-year-old.

Aguilar is slated to sign with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

As a seventh-year senior at Tennessee this past fall, Aguilar completed 67.3 percent of his passes for 3,565 yards, 24 pass touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The 24-year-old has a solid arm, good deep ball potential and a great frame, but he struggles with seeing the field. This weakness is especially evident when he's pressured, due to a lack of pocket elusiveness that led to eight fumbles in 2025 and 29 in three years at the FBS level. Aguilar also had surgery in January to remove a benign tumor on his throwing shoulder, adding to the worries already in place about his age as he enters the league.

Cowboys' Javonte Williams: Backfield untouched by NFL Draft
    1d ago

The Cowboys did not add to the running back position in the 2026 NFL Draft, leaving Williams (shoulder) positioned to reprise a bell-cow role, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.

Williams re-signed with Dallas via a three-year, $24 million deal in February after putting together a breakout campaign with the team in 2025, totaling 252 carries for 1,201 yards (4.8 YPC) and 11 touchdowns across 16 regular-season appearances. He also secured 35 of 51 targets for 137 yards and two scores. Given that the No. 2 role behind Williams appears open to a competition between Malik Davis (eye), Jaydon Blue, Phil Mafah and Israel Abanikanda, the Cowboys appeared to be a candidate to add playmaking upside to the backfield via the NFL Draft, particularly in the form of a pass-catching complement. Instead, fourth-round offensive lineman Drew Shelton represents the team's main addition on offense, and Williams retains a clear path to a workhorse role. Williams missed Week 18 due to a shoulder issue but is presumably ready for spring activities.

Along with Love, who projects to vault right to the top of the depth chart at running back, the Cardinals also signed Tyler Allgeier and restructured James Conner's contract over the offseason. Benson has never played a single regular-season snap on special teams in his career but may have to learn if he's going to stick in Arizona. The more likely outcome may be that Benson is traded to a team in need of backfield depth before Week 1. The 2024 third-round pick has a career 92-451-1 rushing line, good for a strong 4.9 yards per carry.

Wright logged 1,029 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns over two seasons with Ole Miss, claiming the No. 2 spot in program history for career tight end yardage. The 22-year-old was a consistent producer of splash plays, with 12 catches of 20-plus yards in 2025. He has exceptional contact balance as well as an expansive catch radius beyond what his frame would typically allow. Wright's toughness also isn't in question after the tight end played through the entire 2025 season with an injured right shoulder that he suffered in the season opener. His greatest weaknesses are a lackluster frame for blocking and inconsistent playing weight. The tape Wright has displayed portrays him as a strong tight end prospect that can take advantage of mismatches, something the Eagles could utilize in a depth role behind Dallas Goedert. Wright's camp production will likely be heavily weighed against Grant Calcaterra's and Eli Stowers' to determine if Wright is at the NFL level.

Eagles' Nolan Smith: Fifth-year option excercised
    21h ago

The Eagles exercised Smith's fifth-year option Monday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Smith will earn another $13.7 million, guaranteeing his services to the Eagles through 2027. The linebacker is coming off a slightly disappointing season that was spoiled by a lingering triceps injury he originally suffered during training camp. Despite the issue, Smith still started 12 regular-season games, logging 31 tackles (15 solo), including 3.0 sacks. Headed into 2026 healthy, Smith will look to produce a year similar to his 2024 season (42 tackles, including 6.5 sacks), which would help greatly in long-term extension discussions with the organization.

Cowboys' Curtis Robinson: Signing with Dallas
    21h ago

The Cowboys signed Robinson to a one-year deal Monday, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Robinson got a chance to prove his mettle in 2025 due to an injury bug that hit the 49ers' linebacker corps. The 27-year-old played 244 defensive snaps over 14 games last season, up from 83 snaps over 15 games in the first five years of his career combined. Robinson registered 42 tackles (19 solo) over that 14-game span and has proven to be a reliable depth option that will be able to produce for the Cowboys in 2026 if DeMarvion Overshown, Shemar James or Dee Winters are unable to suit up.

Saints' Tyree Wilson: Fifth-year option declined
    22h ago

The Saints declined Wilson's fifth-year option Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

As the seventh overall pick in 2023 Draft and a defensive end, Wilson's fifth-year option would have come in at $14.475 million. The pass rusher's career has been disappointing thus far in relation to the draft capital invested in him, so it makes sense that the Saints' trade acquisition is more of a one-year flyer on a once-promising and athletic player and not a commitment to pursue his future. If Wilson can revive his career in 2026 with a better season, the team may look to keep his services in New Orleans long term.
