  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Won't play Sunday

Head coach Shane Steichen noted Friday that Pierce (concussion) won't play Sunday against the Titans, Amanda Foster of the Colts' official site reports. Pierce, who sustained a concussion during Week 15 action, didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but participated in Friday's session, wearing a non-contact jersey, per Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star. However, with the wideout having been ruled out and targeting a potential return to action Sunday, Dec. 29 at the Giants, Adonai Mitchell figures to see added opportunities this weekend alongside fellow WRs Michael Pittman and Josh Downs.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Working off to side

Pierce (concussion) handled cone drills off to the side at Thursday's practice, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports. Pierce is officially being listed as a non-participant at practice for the second day in a row, but it appears he's making some amount of progress through the NFL's concussion protocol. The No. 3 wideout will need to gain full clearance, though, in order to be eligible to suit up for Sunday's game against the Titans. Adonai Mitchell will be in position to handle added opportunities behind Michael Pittman and Josh Downs if Pierce can't go.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Hauls in late TD

Pierce caught two of six targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-24 win over the Patriots. The third-year wideout dealt with a foot injury in practice this week, and while he was eventually cleared to play, Pierce appeared headed for a very quiet day until he caught a three-yard TD from Anthony Richardson with just 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter for what seemed to be the tying score. Rather than sending the game to overtime with an extra point though, coach Shane Steichen put the ball in Richardson's hands, and the young QB ran in a two-point conversion for the win. The touchdown was Pierce's fifth of the season after he managed only four across his first two NFL campaigns, and he'll get a bye in Week 14 to let his foot heal further.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Not practicing Thursday

Pierce (foot) didn't participate in practice Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Pierce was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, so his absence from Thursday's session puts the focus on what he's able to do Friday in terms of his chances of playing Sunday against the Patriots. With Josh Downs (shoulder) also having logged consecutive DNPs, Michael Pittman and Adonai Mitchell currently are the Colts' top healthy wideout options.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Sits out practice

Pierce was a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report due to a foot injury. The foot issue is a new one for Pierce, and it's especially notable with Josh Downs (shoulder) and Ashton Dulin (ankle) also listed as non-participants Wednesday. If none of the three get cleared to play Sunday against New England, Michael Pittman and Adonai Mitchell would be in line for heavy usage at wide receiver.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Only reception goes for 39 yards

Pierce had one reception (on four targets) for 39 yards in Sunday's 24-6 loss to the Lions. Pierce finished as the Colts' second-leading receiver in a game during which quarterback Anthony Richardson completed just 11 pass attempts. The 24-year-old Pierce did reach a new career high in single-season receiving yards (629) despite his one-catch performance. Pierce has played well overall given the murky QB situation in Indianapolis, keeping him in the conversation for deeper fantasy formats against the Patriots next Sunday.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Week 12 Waiver Priority List

Pierce was a priority add going into Week 11 when Michael Pittman was dealing with a back injury, and Joe Flacco was looking like the starting quarterback for the Colts. But in Week 12, Pittman returned to action, and Anthony Richardson was back under center in Indianapolis. Still, Pierce had three catches for 74 yards on four targets at the Jets, and he'll continue to be a big-play threat for Richardson. He doesn't have the same appeal with Pittman healthy and Richardson throwing passes, but Pierce can be an option for Fantasy managers in deep, three-receiver leagues. He's worth adding for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Long catch aids game-winning drive

Pierce caught three of four targets for 74 yards in Sunday's 28-27 win over the Jets. The majority of Pierce's yardage came on a 39-yard catch on the last Colts possession, which set up Anthony Richardson's game-winning rushing touchdown in the final minute. Pierce's ability to make big gains down the field has been his calling card all season, as he came into Sunday's game leading all qualified receivers with 22.4 yards per catch. He needs just three receiving yards in Week 12 against the Lions to match his career high of 593 from his rookie season in 2022.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Week 11 Waiver Priority List

We'll see what happens with Michael Pittman (back) heading into Week 11 at the Jets, and if he's out again, then Pierce and Adonai Mitchell (9 percent) have the potential to help Fantasy managers for the second week in a row. In Week 10 against Buffalo, Pierce had four catches for 81 yards and a touchdown on seven targets. And Mitchell had six catches for 71 yards on six targets. I like Pierce slightly better than Mitchell, and Pierce is worth adding for at least 10 percent of your remaining FAB. Mitchell is worth adding for 5 percent. Now, not only does Pittman need to miss time to trust Pierce and Mitchell, but Joe Flacco also has to remain the starting quarterback. It would be tough to trust any of the Colts receivers if Anthony Richardson regains his starting job.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Catches late TD in loss

Pierce secured four of seven targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 30-20 loss to the Bills on Sunday. Pierce recorded a team-high yardage total and checked in second in targets, an extension of a resurgent season for the third-year pro. Pierce also tallied his career-high fourth touchdown of the campaign on a 10-yard pass from Joe Flacco with two seconds remaining, a score that still carried plenty of meaning for fantasy managers. Pierce benefited from the absence of Michael Pittman (back) in Sunday's game, but he should continue in a solid complementary role at minimum even if Pittman returns for a Week 11 road matchup against the Jets.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Makes three catches in loss

Pierce caught all three of his targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 21-13 loss to the Vikings. Pierce's 41 receiving yards were second on the team behind Josh Downs' 60, while no other teammate had more than 22. After posting 368 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 17 targets through Week 5, Pierce has cooled off with only 67 yards and no touchdowns on 16 targets over the last four games. Getting back on track won't be easy in Week 10 against a Bills defense that tends to limit the big downfield plays on which Pierce thrives.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Just one reception in loss

Pierce had one reception for 15 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss at Houston. Pierce was able to get open deep several times, but quarterback Anthony Richardson struggled to make accurate passes to make a connection. Pierce remains one of Richardson's favorite targets but is going to be a boom-or-bust option for fantasy purposes each week as is he's mostly a deep threat in the offense.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Two receptions in win

Pierce had two receptions for 15 yards on five targets in Sunday's win over Miami. It was a bounce-back performance after he didn't have a catch or target in a Week 6 win at Tennessee. However, he could have had a better game if not for a drop on a wide open, easy target. Pierce remains one of Anthony Richardson's favorite targets but is going to be a boom-or-bust option for fantasy purposes each week as is he's mostly a deep threat in the offense.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Returns to practice

Pierce (shoulder) is participating in Friday's practice, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Pierce was added to the injury report as a non-participant Thursday due to a shoulder issue. To see Pierce back on the practice field Friday is encouraging as to his chances of suiting up Sunday versus the Dolphins. Friday's official practice report will reveal whether or not Pierce carries an injury designation approaching Week 7 action.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Team-high yardage tally in loss

Pierce secured all three targets for 134 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 37-34 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. Pierce put together a signature stat line, one that was almost identical to the three-catch, 125-yard, one-touchdown effort he kicked his season off with against the Texans. The third-year pro came to life late in the contest, recording 24- and 46-yard grabs on a quick three-play drive in the latter portion of the fourth quarter, with the latter catch initially ruled a touchdown before being overturned via replay. However, Pierce made up for it on the next possession, hauling in a 65-yard touchdown grab down the left side of the field with under three minutes remaining. Pierce's production is certainly difficult to trust week to week, but considering he's now achieved 100-yard performances with both Anthony Richardson (hip/oblique) and Joe Flacco as his quarterback, he remains a weekly consideration in deeper leagues and in DFS contests.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Quiet against Pittsburgh

Pierce recorded one reception on two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Steelers. Pierce has produced through big plays early this season, as he's tallied three catches of more than 40 yards in four games. He got one deep target from Joe Flacco just before halftime against the Steelers, but he was well covered by Donte Jackson and the pass fell incomplete. Pierce will likely have productive games due to his explosive potential, but he'll be an inconsistent contributor.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Hauls in another deep pass

Pierce caught one of two targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 21-16 win over the Bears. Despite hauling in only one pass, Pierce led the Colts in receiving yards. The reception was already his third of the season of 40-plus yards, tying his career high, but his target volume took a big hit Sunday with Josh Downs (ankle) back in the lineup. Pierce could have trouble getting open deep in Week 4 against a stingy Steelers secondary.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Listed as co-starter at No. 3 WR

Pierce and rookie Adonai Mitchell are listed as co-starters at the third wide receiver spot on the Colts' first unofficial depth chart. Mitchell and Pierce have been splitting time with the first-team offense so far in training camp, with reports suggesting Pierce has been more productive but Mitchell has had impressive moments. It's still early in the competition for playing time, but it's notable that the Colts are giving the rookie equal billing so soon rather than deferring to the more senior wideout. Pierce has underwhelmed in his two seasons with the Colts, averaging just 554 yards and two touchdowns a year, so there's some risk he could quickly lose playing time to Mitchell, a 2024 second-round pick.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Sitting out practice

Pierce (foot) is not practicing Thursday, the final day of mandatory minicamp, as a precautionary measure, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports. Pierce hasn't practice this week after his foot was stepped on in a previous practice, but it doesn't appear that there's any worry about his status for training camp. The 2022 second-round pick is competing with rookie second-rounder Adonai Mitchell for No. 3 receiver reps behind Michael Pittman (knee) and Josh Downs, so missing any amount of time could portent a hit to Pierce's stock. In two seasons with the Colts, Pierce has averaged a mediocre 554 yards and two touchdowns, but he could've been held back by questionable quarterback play.

  • Colts' Alec Pierce: Competition for starting job

Pierce and 2024 second-round draft pick Adonai Mitchell will compete on the outside for the No. 3 receiver role in training camp, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Pierce has been the starting deep threat for the Colts the last two campaigns but without much production (just 32 receptions for 514 yards and two touchdowns last season). While that may have been due to poor quarterback play and a game plan that didn't throw the ball deep, it has opened the door for a dynamic talent like Mitchell to compete for his job. Mitchell, the former Texas and Georgia receiver, dazzled at the NFL Scouting Combine (4.34-second 40-yard dash, 136-inch broad jump) following a productive end to his Longhorns career (55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns on 92 targets in 2023).
