Gay (undisclosed) did not practice Monday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Gay's absence was injury-related, according to head coach Dennis Allen, although he declined to offer a diagnosis. A free-agent acquisition this offseason from Kansas City, the Mississippi State product is expected to be a starter in the Saints' linebacker corps, which is currently dealing with several injuries. A clearer picture of his status for Sunday against the Panthers will come later in the week when the team releases its initial injury report.
