With the season quickly approaching, time is running out to build your 2020 Fantasy football best ball strategy, and owners everywhere are trying to digest another busy NFL offseason. The Arizona Cardinals continued trying to build an offense that can operate Kliff Kingbury's Air Raid system by trading for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. They also committed to Kenyan Drake as their starting running back.
Where do Hopkins, Drake, Kyler Murray and other fantasy-relevant stars on the Cardinals' roster belong in your 2020 Fantasy football best ball rankings? A high-volume passing game could lead to huge numbers on a weekly basis, and upside is the name of the game in Fantasy football best ball lineups. Now, Engel has released his 2020 Fantasy football best ball rankings and revealed his top sleepers, breakouts and busts so you'll have an edge.
Top 2020 Fantasy football best ball picks
Engel is extremely high on Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett. Seattle's speedy receiver has been sensational over the past two seasons, hauling in 18 touchdowns during that span. He's coming off an impressive 2019 campaign that saw him record his first 1,000-yard regular season, finishing with career-highs in receptions (82) and yards (1,057). Only Michael Thomas and Mike Evans had more PPR Fantasy points than Lockett through the first nine weeks of last season.
Plus, fellow Seahawks receiver D.K. Metcalf is expected to draw more double-coverage after recording 900 yards and seven scores in his rookie campaign. Metcalf's size and speed make him a matchup nightmare, which bodes well for Lockett in 2020. "The emergence of Metcalf can let Lockett loose for more big games this season," Engel told SportsLine.
And a massive shocker: Patriots running back James White, who has reeled in over 150 total catches the last two seasons, stumbles big-time and barely cracks the top 40 running backs. The veteran back has made a steady living as a pass-catcher and a change of pace option in New England's rushing attack, but his overall value takes a tumble with the uncertainty brought by the change at quarterback to Cam Newton, who was limited to just two games last season.
That means New England could make a larger commitment to the running game, which benefits early-down back Sony Michel more so than White.
