Payne is not in the starting lineup for Friday's preseason game against the Wizards, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports.
The Knicks will start what should be their Opening Night lineup in this contest, so Payne will return to the bench. He was in the first unit in Tuesday's contest against the Hornets, but he figures to be a depth option off the bench once the 2024-25 regular season begins next Tuesday against the Celtics on the road.
