Editor's Note: Every week, we will release the Top 150 players based on their projections for that scoring period. Use this list to compare players and help make those really tough decisions.
As we head into Week 4 (Nov. 14-20) of the Fantasy season, there are a ton of injury question marks littering the NBA landscape. In some instances, we have big names ready to make their first appearances of the season; in others, the injured head into Week 4 clouded with uncertainty.
There isn't much to talk about with the schedule this week, so we'll take the time to go a bit more in-depth on the injuries this week, including start/sit recommendations for some of the tougher calls. Good luck!
Jrue Holiday is finally nearly ready to return to the court, after missing the start of the season to care for his sick wife. Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry told reporters this week there remains no timetable on Holiday's return, but The Vertical reports Holiday is expected to return this week. He is available in just six percent of leagues, but Holiday needs to be owned in every single one, coming off a season where he averaged 21.2 points and 7.3 assists per game after the All-Star break.
Holiday is too risky to start in Week 4, so keep Tim Frazier in your lineup -- unless you can trade him, of course -- but expect Holiday to be a mainstay before long.
Dirk Nowitzki is officially questionable for Monday's game against the Knicks, and has made his return to practice after missing time with an Achilles injury. Nowitzki has struggled to open of the season, averaging just 12.0 points while missing five of the first eight games, and this injury isn't likely to help him get going.
I might still think about sitting Nowitzki, even with a good schedule on the way. He might sit out a back-to-back later in the week.
Jeremy Lin pretty much played as expected to open the season, averaging 15.0 points and 6.2 assists per game in his first contests, establishing himself as a solid starting Fantasy option before going down with a hamstring injury. Lin is traveling with the Nets on their upcoming West Coast trip, and should be re-evaluated shortly. However, he was supposed to miss two weeks of action, so it's hard to look at him as likely to play this week.
Keep Lin on the bench for this week unless he is surprisingly declared healthy before lineups lock Monday.
Jae Crowder was off to a tremendous start to the season, shooting 55.6 percent from the field and doing his typical stat-sheet stuffing before going down with an ankle injury earlier in the month. Brad Stevens told reporters Crowder is targeting a return this Wednesday, giving him three chances to play this week.
Crowder should be back in your starting lineup in all category-based formats.
As of Sunday afternoon, Goran Dragic had already been ruled out for Monday's game with a left ankle sprain, which is hardly what you want to see. Dragic is currently sporting a walking boot, which makes it hard to see how he makes a quick recovery.
Dragic has played well this season, but it's easy to sit him this week, especially with Miami set to play twice in the first two days of the week. If he isn't ready by Tuesday, you're only getting two games out of him in the best-case scenario.
The Celtics haven't gotten off to the start they hoped for, and injuries to Crowder and Al Horford are big reasons. Horford's issue is much tougher for Fantasy players to gauge, because concussions don't follow a set timetable. He has been working out before games lately, and could be active as soon as Monday against the Pelicans.
He is a risk, but it might be one worth taking in Week 4.
Ricky Rubio got back in the lineup Saturday after missing nearly two weeks with an elbow sprain. He played just 24 minutes in the loss to the Clippers, and it will be interesting to see if the Timberwolves continue to limit his role just a bit for the next few games as he works his way back. Kris Dunn has struggled mightily in his time in the starting lineup, and can be benched easily -- if not outright cut, depending on how badly you need the roster spot. But I would still be hesitant to rely on Rubio with just three games on the way.
On Tuesday, "day to day" is reassuring. By Sunday, it's a source of headaches. Sure, George Hill could be back any day now, but that doesn't mean he will be, He has already missed three games while designated day-to-day with a thumb injury. You might find out about Hill's status before lineups lock Monday, but I think I would start him either way. He can't miss a whole other week, can he? I would take the risk in starting Hill.
Patrick Beverley is inching toward a return, but he has not been cleared to return from knee surgery for Monday's game. Beverley might be worth picking up as we move forward, but it's hard to get too excited about him until we actually see him in action. With James Harden taking on even more play-making duties, Beverley is likely to see a similar role to Eric Gordon, who is better at pretty much everything on offense than Beverley. His defense will still be needed, but Beverley is fringe-y enough to avoid this week.
