Player Outlook
Traded from Baltimore to Miami in 2024, Kyle Stowers wasn't informed that he made the Marlins' 2025 Opening Day roster until the final days of spring training. He would go on to be the team's sole representative in the All-Star Game, slashing .288/.368/.544 with 25 homers and five steals across 457 total plate appearances before a left oblique strain put him on the injured list in August. Stowers began a rehab assignment in early September but had to pause it after just one game due to discomfort in his opposite side, a setback which ended his season. There is some lingering uncertainty given the injuries, and he had struggled with strikeouts prior to 2025, but Stowers tattooed the ball when healthy last season and projects as an everyday presence in the middle of the order for an improving Marlins offense.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Goes through workout Wednesday

Stowers (hamstring) was able to throw, hit and run during a workout Wednesday, and he had no issues afterward, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. The 28-year-old outfielder is beginning the season on the IL and will be re-evaluated in 3-to-4 weeks, meaning that Stowers will probably need at least a brief rehab assignment before he's ready to make his 2026 debut in late April or early May. If he continues to make good progress in his recovery, however, he could return on the short end of that estimate. The Marlins will miss having Stowers' bat in the lineup after he had a breakout 2025, slugging 25 homers with a .912 OPS in 117 contests.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Moves to IL

The Marlins placed Stowers (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Stowers was diagnosed Sunday with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain and is expected to need 3-to-4 weeks to make a full recovery. With Stowers opening the season on the shelf, the Marlins should have regular reps available in the corner outfield for Griffin Conine and Owen Caissie, and the right-handed-hitting Heriberto Hernandez could see more opportunities against righties after he previously appeared to be in line for a short-side platoon role.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Out with hamstring strain

Stowers will begin the season on the injured list and is expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks after being diagnosed Sunday with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Stowers sustained the injury during Friday's Grapefruit League contest, which occurred less than a week after he returned from a minor strain of the same hamstring suffered earlier in spring training. The 28-year-old will be sidelined for at least the first half of April, and a specific return date should come into focus as he moves through his rehab program.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Injures hamstring

Stowers was removed from Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros due to right hamstring tightness, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. Stowers strained his right hamstring earlier this spring and had to sit out for two weeks because of it. It's unclear how serious his latest setback is, but there is now a chance that he opens the regular season on the injured list. If that happens, Griffin Conine and Heriberto Hernandez would be next in line to pick up starts in the outfield.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Looks healthy in return

Stowers went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Saturday's split-squad spring game against the Cardinals. Getting the start in left field and hitting leadoff in his return to game action, Stowers didn't appear to be slowed down by the hamstring issue that cropped up in late February. The 28-year-old went first to third in the third inning on a Xavier Edwards single after drawing his free pass with two outs before coming home on a Connor Norby knock. Stowers should still have enough to time to get ready for Opening Day as he looks to build on a breakout 2025 campaign that saw him slash .288/.368/.544 with 25 homers in 117 games.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Slated for return Saturday

Stowers (hamstring) is scheduled to return to Grapefruit League play Saturday against the Cardinals, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Stowers has been slowed by mild right hamstring strain but has progressed to the point that he's on the precipice of a return to action. He is expected to play the outfield Saturday, so the Marlins won't be easing him back in at designated hitter. Stowers should be fine for Opening Day, barring setbacks.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Taking live at-bats

Stowers (hamstring) will face live pitching Friday, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports. Stowers was scratched from a Feb. 28 spring training game due to hamstring tightness and was given a 1-to-2 week timeline to return to game action. He looks to be on track, checking off a box by taking live at-bats. It's unclear if he has started his running progression yet.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Running progression starting soon

Stowers (hamstring) took 30 swings and played catch Sunday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Stowers will advance to some live at-bats within the next few days and will also begin a running progression soon. The outfielder was diagnosed over the weekend with a mild right hamstring strain and is expected to return to game action in 1-2 weeks. Stowers is expected to be ready in time for Opening Day, but he can't afford any type of setback.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Ready to go for spring training

Stowers (obliques) took live batting practice Monday in the Marlins' first full-squad workout of spring training, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Stowers didn't play for the Marlins after mid-August last season after suffering a Grade 1 left oblique strain before injuring his other oblique during a minor-league rehab assignment, but he appears to be back to full health entering his age-28 campaign. He's coming off a breakout 2025 season in which he earned his first All-Star nod while slashing .288/.368/.544 with 25 home runs, five stolen bases, 73 RBI and 61 runs over 117 games. Stowers will be penciled into an everyday role in the heart of what could be an improved Miami lineup in 2026.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Unlikely to play in final week

The Marlins announced Friday that Stowers (obliques) is continuing a rehab program, but the outfielder doesn't appear on track to return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the season, MLB.com reports. Initially placed on the IL on Aug. 17 due to a Grade 1 left oblique strain, Stowers was cleared to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sept. 5 but appeared in just one game before suffering an injury to his other oblique. Though both oblique injuries look to be of the mild variety and shouldn't affect his offseason preparation, the Marlins don't have much motivation to rush him back to the field for the final week of the 2025 campaign. Before being shelved, Stowers had been one of the top fantasy breakouts of the season, slashing .288/.368/.544 with 25 home runs, five stolen bases, 73 RBI and 61 runs in 117 games.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Starting rehab assignment

Stowers (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. As expected, Stowers will begin his minor-league rehab assignment Friday, likely the last step in his recovery from a strained left oblique. The outfielder has been sidelined since Aug. 17 and shouldn't require too many games at Jacksonville before being reinstated from the injured list.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Heads to IL

The Marlins placed Stowers on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left oblique strain. Per Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com, Marlins manager Clayton McCullough noted that Stowers is likely to miss "several weeks" due to a Grade 1 strain, which resulted in the All-Star outfielder being scratched Saturday. Joey Wiemer was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville to add outfield depth, but Dane Myers and Derek Hill may be likelier candidates to see increased opportunities while Stowers is on the shelf.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Dealing with side tightness

Stowers is out of Saturday's lineup as a precaution due to left side tightness, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Stowers is dealing with a minor side injury, and the Marlins are opting to play it safe with the left fielder by giving him the afternoon off. Heriberto Hernandez will hold down left field while Stowers is out. Stowers is slashing .288/.368/.544 in 457 plate appearances this season.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Sitting against RHP

Stowers is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox. After making three straight starts in left field, Stowers will yield to Heriberto Hernandez at the position Saturday against Brayan Bello. Stowers went 5-for-11 with three doubles over the last three games.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Idle versus lefty

Stowers is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians. It appears to be a routine day off for Stowers, as Miami faces Cleveland lefty Logan Allen for Tuesday's series opener. From left to right, Jakob Marsee, Derek Hill and Dane Myers will patrol the outfield for the Marlins. Stowers went 0-for-10 at the plate with a 2:3 BB:K across the final three games of last week's series versus Atlanta.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Continues to roll in wild win

Stowers went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in Friday's 13-12 win over the Yankees. The grand slam was Stowers' second of the season, and it was the fifth time this year that he's collected at least four RBI. The 27-year-old first-time All-Star has been one of fantasy's breakout hitters in 2025 as well as one of the hottest hitters in baseball since late June in particular -- Stowers is slashing an incredible .358/.452/.840 with 14 home runs, nine doubles and 33 RBI over his last 32 games (126 plate appearances).

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: In lineup Tuesday

Stowers (illness) is starting in left field and batting cleanup Sunday against the Cardinals. The 27-year-old was scratched from the lineup Monday due to an illness, but it's apparently not a serious issue since he's back in the starting nine a day later. Stowers is batting a ridiculous .439 (18-for-41) with four doubles and seven homers in his past 12 games, boosting his OPS for the season to .952.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Out Monday with illness

Stowers was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game in St. Louis due to an illness, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Stowers should be ready to return to the lineup in a day or two. The Marlins have inserted Heriberto Hernandez into the lineup in left field and in the cleanup spot in Stowers' place.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Stays hot in win

Stowers went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Friday's 5-1 win over the Brewers. Stowers homered for the seventh time in eight games, opening the scoring with a solo shot in the third inning. The 27-year-old has hit safely in nine of his last 10 contests, piling up 14 RBI and 10 runs scored during that stretch. On the season, he's slashing .296/.376/.573 with 23 home runs, 62 RBI, 51 runs scored and four steals across 376 plate appearances.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Another homer Monday

Stowers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Monday's 2-1 loss to the Padres. The 27-year-old is in the midst of the best season of his career so far, slashing .295/.370/.564 with 60 RBI. Stowers has been particularly dominant over the past month, mashing 12 homers with a .372 average over his last 24 games. His 13 percent walk rate over that stretch shows that Stowers is seeing the ball well, and he has started against the last two lefties the Marlins have faced after often getting platooned in the first half.
