Dominguez's (elbow) exit in the eighth inning of Thursday's rehab game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was not related to the injury to Juan Soto (forearm), Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Dominguez's removal was planned, as he has yet to play a full game on his rehab assignment as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Of course, it's still possible Dominguez could be a potential roster replacement for Soto should the latter need to miss some time. Soto is set to undergo imaging on his left forearm Friday, and the results of that will dictate how the Yankees proceed. Dominguez is slashing .339/.397/.581 with four home runs over 68 plate appearances covering 17 rehab contests.... See More ... See Less

Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Continuing rehab at Triple-A
Dominguez's (elbow) rehab assignment was extended an additional 10 days and will continue at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Yankees announced Tuesday. Dominguez will make another step in his recovery from Tommy John surgery he underwent last September, bumping his rehab assignment up to the Triple-A level. He's already appeared in 14 minor-league games split across Double-A Somerset and Single-A Tampa, and Dominguez will likely require a handful more at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before being activated. Even when cleared, Dominguez will have a tough time cracking New York's active roster considering its abundance of outfield talent.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Playing outfield in rehab game
Dominguez (elbow) will start in center field and bat second for Double-A Somerset in a rehab game Wednesday versus Bowie. Dominguez already has 10 rehab games under his belt, but Wednesday will mark the first time that he's started in center field since he underwent Tommy John surgery last September. The 21-year-old's ability to play the outfield likely signals that he's completed his throwing program, but Dominguez is still likely to remain on his rehab assignment for the full 20-day window or close to it. The Yankees don't have an everyday role available in the outfield for Dominguez at the moment, so he'll likely be optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre once he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list.... Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Moving rehab to Double-A
The Yankees transferred Dominguez's (elbow) rehab assignment to Double-A Somerset on Tuesday. The 21-year-old began the rehab stint with Single-A Tampa last week and will move up to Somerset after going 5-for-13 with a double and four walks in four games. Dominguez is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre once he completes the rehab assignment since there's no opening for him in New York's current outfield alignment.... Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Likely to be optioned after rehab
Dominguez (elbow) is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre once he's activated from the 60-day injured list after his 20-day rehab window concludes, Randy Miller of The Newark Star-Ledger reports. Dominguez began a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Tuesday as he comes back from Tommy John surgery. He will serve as the designated hitter for 10-to-14 days before eventually playing the outfield. The 21-year-old needs time to knock some rust off since he went eight months without playing games, so he'll likely need longer than the 20-day rehab allotment before he becomes an option for the Yankees. Additionally, the Yankees are happy with their current outfield situation, so there's not room for Dominguez to take on a regular role right now, barring injury. Dominguez is still a worthy stash in fantasy leagues given his upside, but it's possible it might not be until 2025 that he gets another extended run with the big club.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Beginning rehab assignment Tuesday
Dominguez (elbow) will start his rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Tuesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.comh reports. Yankees manager Aaron Boone noted Saturday that Dominguez will be the DH for the first two weeks of the assignment. Dominguez has continued to progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and he can spend a maximum of 20 days on his rehab assignment before the Yankees will have to activate him. Dominguez could then be optioned for additional time to knock off the rust.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Nearing rehab assignment
Manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Dominguez (elbow) is "inside two weeks" to begin a rehab assignment, Chris Kirschner of The Athleticreports. The 21-year-old's rehab from Tommy John surgery has apparently been progressing nicely, and he's close to being cleared for game action. Dominguez will require a lengthy rehab assignment before being reinstated, but he appears on track to return before the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Throwing from 135 feet
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Dominguez (elbow) has increased his throwing distance to 135 feet, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Dominguez continues to progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery from last September, and Boone noted that the 21-year-old is "a few weeks" away from playing in a minor-league rehab game. Dominguez appeared in eight games with the Yankees last season, going 8-for-31 with four home runs and seven RBI over that span.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Increases throwing distance
Dominguez (elbow) has been throwing from 120 feet, per MLB.com. Dominguez continues to make progress in his recovery from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last September. In addition to throwing, the 21-year-old has has been taking swings from both sides of the plate, and Yankees manager Aaron Boone said earlier in the week that the young slugger is "doing really well." Should he continue to move forward without issues, Dominguez could play in a minor-league rehab game by the end of April.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Swinging from right side Monday
Dominguez (elbow) will begin swinging a bat from the right side of the plate Monday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports. The switch hitter will start incorporating swings from the left side in a few weeks. Dominguez has already been going through other fielding and throwing drills in camp and remains on track for a midseason return from Tommy John surgery.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Slated to play catch soon
Dominguez (elbow) is scheduled to play catch soon and expected to begin swinging a bat before the end of spring training, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Dominguez has already been shagging fly balls as he works his way back from late-September Tommy John surgery. The Yankees are offering only the rough timetable of "summer" for the young outfielder's projected return at this point, with more clarity on that front available likely after Opening Day.... Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Not guaranteed CF job post-recovery
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Dominguez (elbow) is not guaranteed to immediately step in as the team's starting center fielder when he returns to full health, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Dominguez debuted with New York this past September and posted a robust .980 OPS with four home runs across his first eight major-league games before requiring Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery just a few weeks later. He projects to be recovered from that procedure around the middle of the 2024 campaign, but the 20-year-old rising star may spend a bit more time in the minors beyond the typical rehab assignment.... Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Set for UCL surgery Wednesday
Dominguez will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair the torn UCL in his right elbow, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports. It won't be known until the operation whether Dominguez will require Tommy John surgery, an internal brace procedure or a combination of the two. Either way, the expected recovery time is 9-to-10 months, which means the young outfielder is likely to be sidelined until around midseason of 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Likely to miss first half of 2024
Dominguez is likely to miss the first half of the 2024 season after being diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. The recovery from Tommy John surgery for position players isn't as long as it is for pitchers, but Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Dominguez's recovery will likely take 9-10 months. That suggests a return around the All-Star break of next season would be a best-case scenario for the young outfielder. The 20-year-old Dominguez made a great first impression in the big leagues, batting .258 with four home runs, a double, seven RBI, six runs and a steal over eight games.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Scratched with elbow inflammation
Dominguez was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Brewers due to right elbow inflammation. It's unclear when the injury cropped up for Dominguez, who has started all eight games in center field since being called up by the Yankees on Sept. 1. The 20-year-old could be headed for medical imaging, and the organization is likely to be cautious with its top prospect amid the closing stretch of a lost season. Isiah Kiner-Falefa replaced him in center field Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Batting third again in home debut
Dominguez is starting in center field and batting third in Tuesday's game versus the Tigers. Dominguez batted fifth in his major-league debut but has now been in the No. 3 spot for each of his next three games. The rookie has picked up one hit in each contest thus far, including a pair of home runs. Dominguez and his teammates will face Alex Faedo in Tuesday's contest.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Batting third Saturday
Dominguez is starting in center field and hitting third Saturday against the Astros. Dominguez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in his big-league debut Friday, and the home run came off Justin Verlander on his first swing as a big leaguer. Anthony Volpe and Gleyber Torres (back) have recently occupied the three hole, but it's possible Dominguez stays in this prime spot if he continues to produce.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Promotion made official
The Yankees selected Dominguez's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. News broke Thursday that Dominguez was on his way to the big leagues and his promotion has now been made official. The 20-year-old got off to a slow start in the minors this season but slashed .348/.419/.507 with five home runs and 21 steals across his last 50 games between Double-A Somerset and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He'll get an opportunity as the Yankees' everyday center fielder down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Possible waiver wire pickups
Hyped as the next Mike Trout from the time he was 16 years old, Dominguez hasn't exactly steamrolled his way to the majors, but the Yankees are nonetheless giving him a shot at age 20 in the hope he stakes out a job for 2024. He's arriving on a high note, at least, having hit .364 (68 for 187) with a .980 OPS in his past 45 games, but it took that kind of surge just to get his season batting average to .265. His exit velocities hint of big power in the future, but it mostly manifested as doubles during his hot streak. Still, he knows how to take a walk and is aggressive on the base paths. Whenever a player arrives this young, with this sort of pedigree, you'd be wise not to underestimate his upside. Growing pains are to be expected, but since he's here to play, presumably taking Harrison Bader's spot in center field, Dominguez is a must-add at least in five-outfielder leagues.... See More ... Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Getting call to majors
The Yankees will call up Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of Friday's series opener in Houston, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. "The Martian" is on his way to the big leagues and should immediately step into an everyday role in the Yankees outfield. Dominguez got off to a somewhat underwhelming start this season in the minors, but he flipped the script in early July and has now rocketed to the majors at age 20 after slashing .348/.419/.507 with five home runs and 21 steals across his last 50 games between Double-A Somerset and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Dominguez's power/speed combination gives him plenty of long-term fantasy upside, though he could be a batting-average drain initially in his first taste of the majors.... See More ... See Less
