  Stewart went 2-for-2 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Red Sox. There was no let-up for Stewart in the third game of the season. He's now had multiple hits and reached base at least three times in all three games, going 7-for-10 with three walks, zero strikeouts and more extra-base hits than singles. He also showed advanced baserunning Sunday, advancing to second base on a flyout to center field, which put him in a position to reach third base when the next batter singled to left field.

Stewart's wrist soreness, which stems from being hit by a 110-mph liner Opening Day, didn't seem to be an issue Saturday, as he stayed hot at the plate. The first baseman had an RBI single in the first inning and then took Sonny Gray deep in the third. Batting cleanup for Cincinnati, Stewart is 5-for-8 with two doubles, one home run and two RBI through two games to begin the regular season.

  Stewart batted cleanup and went 3-for-4 with two doubles in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Red Sox. Reds manager Terry Francona began experimenting with Stewart batting fourth followed by Eugenio Suarez late in spring training and stuck with it for Opening Day against Boston left-hander Garrett Crochet. The 22-year-old Stewart collected three of the four hits Boston's ace would allow, and Stewart managed to stay in the game after taking a Roman Anthony line drive off the hand while playing the field. Stewart slashed .327/450/.592 during spring training with four doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI across 20 games and will be the Reds' mainstay at first base and part of the rotation at DH, but he could also be an option at second or third base.

  Stewart clubbed a three-run home run and added an RBI double in Monday's Cactus League game versus the Cubs. Stewart's long ball off of Collin Snider in the fifth inning went over the batter's eye in center field and was measured at 410 feet and 107.2 mph off the bat. It was the 22-year-old's second home run this spring, and he also added his second stolen base. Stewart cranked five home runs in 18 regular-season games down the stretch for the Reds last season and has breakout potential in his first full big-league season in 2026.

  Stewart shed 26 pounds during the offseason, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. Stewart, primarily a third baseman in the minors, has a clear path to playing regularly at first base and designated hitter this season. Last season's primary starter at first base, Spencer Steer, will likely be a regular in left field while also subbing in at three infield positions. Stewart was introduced to first base last season and had a throwing error in the playoffs that led to a four-run rally by the Dodgers. It's unclear if the error prompted him to drop the weight, but the early report out of camp is that the slimmer Stewart has improved his athleticism. How that reduction in weight impacts his offense is something to monitor, but the 22-year-old prospect is confident he will retain his compact swing and continue to hit for power. During a September call-up last year, Stewart slashed .255/.293/.545 with five home runs, eight RBIs and 11 runs scored over 58 plate appearances.

After the Reds traded for Ke'Bryan Hayes last year, Stewart had to learn first base on the fly. He'll enter this season more comfortable at the position, and presumably has the inside track to play there regularly in 2026. The Reds still have to find playing time for both Stewart and Spencer Steer, but they can be in the same lineup with one of them at DH and the other at first base.

Stewart entered the game when left fielder Austin Hays (back) was removed, and Spencer Steer moved from first base to left field. Stewart had been held out of the starting lineups Friday and Saturday, likely in deference to the hot-hitting Steer and the return of third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes, who missed time with a back issue. The Hays injury could lead to opportunities for Stewart at first base, although manager Terry Francona has more options for left field than just Steer. Will Benson and Gavin Lux could also fill in.

  The Reds selected Stewart's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Monday. He will start at first base and bat sixth in the Reds' series opener versus the Blue Jays. Stewart has been a consistent producer throughout his minor-league career, and he started getting to more over-the-fence power in his age-21 season. He slashed .309/.383/.524 with 20 home runs, 17 steals and a 15.6 percent strikeout rate in 118 games across Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A. Stewart is capable of playing second, third and first base and should get regular work down the stretch. He's more of an average runner than a plus runner, so his speed may not translate in September, but Stewart's hitting ability, role and home park make him a worthwhile roster addition in fantasy.

Stewart will move one step closer to the majors after shining in Double-A ball, posting a .306/.377.473 slash line with 10 homers, 44 RBI, 51 runs and 13 stolen bases over 80 games. The 21-year-old also continued to show an excellent eye at the plate with a 15.5 percent strikeout rate. If Stewart continues to hit well with Louisville, he could get his first call-up to the majors later this season.

  High-A Dayton placed Stewart on the 7-day injured list July 17 with a hand injury, MLB.com reports. There's some speculation Stewart tore a tendon in his wrist and had surgery, but there hasn't been any firm reporting on that. Nonetheless, it seems quite possible Stewart's season is over, as he hasn't played since July 14. Stewart is capable of playing third and second base and slashed .279/.391/.454 with eight home runs, 10 steals, a 14.8 percent walk rate and a 16.9 percent strikeout rate in 80 games for the Dragons.

  The Reds promoted Stewart from Single-A Daytona to High-A Dayton on Aug. 8. The 19-year-old third baseman earned the bump on to Dayton after showing some decent pop (10 home runs and 19 doubles) and exceptional plate discipline (66 walks against 59 strikeouts) over his 387 plate appearances in the Florida State League. Since joining the High-A club, Stewart is slashing .277/.386/.319 through 12 games.
