  • Pirates' Isaac Mattson: Selected from Triple-A

    The Pirates selected Mattson was selected from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Mattson signed a minor-league contract with the Pirates in December and has been through Double-A and Triple-A during 2024. He has appeared in 30 games for Triple-A Indianapolis, notching a 3.19 ERA across 62.0 innings. The 29-year-old made his last and only MLB appearances in 2021 for Baltimore, where he allowed three earned runs in 4.1 innings. In a corresponding move, Jake Woodford was designated for assignment Thursday.

  • Pirates' Isaac Mattson: Heads to Pirates on MiLB deal

    Mattson signed a minor-league contract with the Pirates on Dec. 11. Mattson, 28, began the 2023 season in the independent Atlantic League before inking a minor-league deal with the Twins in June. He went on to register a 3.62 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 42:24 K:BB over 32.1 innings for Double-A Wichita and will likely open the 2024 campaign with the Double-A affiliate of the Pirates in Altoona.
