Athletics' Michel Otanez: Lands on shelf
The Athletics placed Otanez (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday. Otanez was diagnosed with a right shoulder impingement on March 16 and is without a definitive timeline for a return. Athletics' Michel Otanez: Will begin season on injured list
Otanez (shoulder) will begin the season on the 15-day injured list, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Otanez is just a few days into a 10-day shutdown period with a right shoulder impingement, so it's not a surprise he'll require an IL stint. How long that stint lasts will depend on how Otanez's shoulder responds to rest and a subsequent throwing program.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Michel Otanez: Shut down with shoulder issue
Otanez was diagnosed with a right shoulder impingement Sunday and has been shut down from throwing, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. The right-hander hasn't officially been ruled out for Opening Day, but he's unlikely to be available since he suffered the injury so late in camp. Otanez is expected to fill a high-leverage role in front of closer Mason Miller once healthy. Jose Leclerc and Tyler Ferguson are likely to handle setup duties in the meantime.... See More ... Athletics' Michel Otanez: Dealing with forearm bruise
Otanez, who was removed from the Athletics' 11-5 loss to the Phillies on Saturday after taking a line drive off his pitching arm in the eighth inning, is dealing with a forearm bruise in the aftermath, the Associated Press reports. The right-handed reliever had just been recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas earlier in the day due to Luis Medina's (elbow) placement on the injured list. Otanez's injury is muscular in nature, according to manager Mark Kotsay. Otanez isn't likely to be used in Sunday's series finale in Philadelphia but should be ready to go coming out of the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Michel Otanez: Returns to majors
The Athletics recalled Otanez from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday. Otanez was dispatched to Triple-A on Friday, but he'll now return to Oakland's bullpen to make up for the loss of Luis Medina (elbow). The 27-year-old Otanez threw 3.1 shutout innings during his last stint in the majors, though he owns a 5.35 ERA through 37 frames in Triple-A and will likely be limited to low-leverage situations while with the A's....
