The Yankees returned Allen to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
Allen had been serving as a replacement player amidst the Yankees' small COVID-19 outbreak, so the move suggests somebody has been cleared to return from the COVID-related injured list. The 28-year-old outfielder has gotten on base at a .417 clip in 15 games with New York, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him rejoin the big-league club if injuries or the virus create a roster opening at some point.
