Vierling is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Angels, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Vierling will get a standard day of rest after starting the last three games and six of the previous seven contests. Zach McKinstry, Parker Meadows and Kerry Carpenter will patrol the outfield, and Riley Greene will occupy the designated-hitter slot as the Tigers try to complete the sweep and extend their winning streak to seven games.
