Colorado designated Blach for assignment Saturday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

After moving back into the rotation and giving up six earned runs over 2.1 innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday, Blach shifted to the bullpen for the Rockies' series in San Francisco this weekend. He came on in relief in Friday's 11-4 loss, surrendering three more runs over two innings to bring his ERA to 6.36 over 63.2 frames on the season. He'll cede his spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster to right-hander John Curtiss, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Albuquerque. If Blach goes unclaimed on waivers, he'll likely remain in the Rockies organization as pitching depth at Albuquerque.
