Carlson will start at designated hitter and bat second in Monday's game versus the Phillies.
Carlson hasn't started often over the last few weeks with the Rays taking on a righty-heavy schedule, but he'll be up in the two hole versus southpaw Cristopher Sanchez in Monday's series opener. He has a .642 OPS with three home runs in 91 plate appearances since joining Tampa Bay.
