Honeywell has been suspended four games by the Rays, Bob Sutton of the Burlington Times-News reports.
According to Sutton, this suspension comes from the Rays themselves, not the league. Honeywell has expressed frustration of late over not being called up despite his solid work this season, as he owns a 3.80 ERA with 147 strikeouts over just 118.1 innings for Triple-A Durham, including a 3.04 ERA with an 8-2 record since June. A four-day suspension, coincidentally enough, would take Honeywell through Sept. 1, when rosters expand. We'll have to wait and see whether he'll be one of the minor leaguers added to the big squad at that point, but it certainly seems like he's earned the chance at a cup of coffee in the majors.
