The Pirates claimed first baseman Travis Ishikawa off waivers on Sunday, per the Pittsburgh Tribune.
Ishikawa was designated for assignment by San Francisco on Friday. He started the year on the disabled list, and there was no room for him on the MLB club when he returned.
The Giants called him up from Triple-A briefly in late June, and he was 0 for 5 in six games as a reserve.
In his previous stint with the Pirates, Ishikawa hit .206 in 15 games at the start of 2014, before the team granted him free agency at the end of April.
