The Padres transferred Pomeranz (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.
The move clears up a spot on the 40-man roster for Drew Carlton, who had his contract selected from Triple-A El Paso prior to Monday's clash against Kansas City. Pomeranz is currently rehabbing from a left elbow flexor tendon surgery and remains without a firm timetable for a return after being pulled off his rehab assignment in late April due to left arm discomfort.
