Montgomery (8-6) picked up the win Wednesday against Colorado, allowing three earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight in six innings.

Montgomery had one of his best starts of the season Wednesday, notching his first quality start since June 21 while registering a season-high eight punchouts. The 31-year-old still need sto clean up his control to become more consistent -- Montgomery has now issued multiple free passes in four consecutive starts and his 3.5 BB/9 this season is a far cry from his career mark of 2.6. The southpaw owns an ugly 6.25 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 63:35 K:BB across 89.1 innings (18 starts) this season. Montgomery will look to build momentum in his next scheduled start, a favorable matchup in Miami early next week.
