The Royals requested unconditional release waivers for Tillo on Wednesday.
Though Kansas City retained Tillo's rights after he went unclaimed off waivers when he was designated for assignment last week, the organization and the lefty pitcher decided it was best to part ways entirely. The 25-year-old spent the majority of the 2021 campaign at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, where he produced a 4.63 ERA and 1.56 WHIP across 23.1 innings.
