Whitley signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Monday.
Whitley was released by the Cardinals last week after holding a 5.19 ERA and 1.60 WHIP through 43.1 innings of relief this season at Triple-A Memphis. The 28-year-old has flashed some promise in the past and will try to rediscover it in the Atlanta organization.
