The Blue Jays acquired Loperfido, right-hander Jake Bloss and infielder Will Wagner from the Astros on Monday in exchange for left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
After posting monstrous numbers at Triple-A Sugar Land, Loperfido had two separate stints in the majors with the Astros this season, batting .236 with two home runs, 16 RBI, 11 runs scored and two stolen bases over 118 plate appearances. The 25-year-old had begun to see his playing time slip a bit in Houston, but Loperfido's role could grow more stable as he joins a non-contending Blue Jays squad. He'll provide Toronto with a versatile asset, as he saw action at all three outfield spots as well as first base during his time in Houston.
