Draft Scouting Report
Kobie Black is a well-proportioned, adequately sized outside cornerback with a controlled, fundamentally sound backpedal and impressive explosiveness out of transitions. His natural click-and-close ability allows him to stay in phase with receivers and drive on routes effectively. Black plays with a chippy, physical style, avoiding penalties despite occasional grabby tendencies, and is an aggressive tackler. With extensive experience in press coverage, he shows above-average mirroring ability and an excellent feel for route development, although he can occasionally lose in press. His recovery speed is strong, and his tackling is mostly reliable, though he can be overly aggressive at times. His ball skills are solid, but his awareness can be inconsistent due to playing with his back to the quarterback. Overall, Black is a confident man-to-man cornerback with the tenacity, explosiveness and speed to excel in press-heavy schemes.
- Career: 100 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles
- 2024: Three interceptions
- Fundamentally sound backpedal and impressive explosiveness
- Strong click-and-close ability to stay in phase with receivers
- Aggressive tackler with extensive press coverage experience
- Occasional struggles in press coverage

Giants' Korie Black: Headed to Big Blue
The Giants selected Black in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 246th overall.
Black was a three-year starter at Oklahoma State and had four career interceptions with 25 pass breakups. He has a physical play style, but he still slipped further than projected in the draft. The Giants have been seeking stability in the secondary, though Black will likely be limited to special-teams work if he's able to crack the roster.
