Seahawks' George Holani: Door not shut on backfield role
Holani could still have a role in Seattle's running back rotation even after the Seahawks drafted Jadarian Price 32nd overall Thursday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Zach Charbonnet (knee) is likely to miss some regular-season action, leaving Price, Holani and Emanuel Wilson as the top healthy options in a Seahawks backfield that lost Kenneth Walker in free agency. Price had just 15 catches in three years at Notre Dame, so Holani has a clear path to carving out a role in passing situations, at least until Charbonnet returns. Holani had only two catches across 11 regular-season appearances in 2025 but added four receptions in two playoff contests.

Seahawks' George Holani: Signs ERFA tender
Holani signed his exclusive rights free-agent tender with the Seahawks on Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Holani spent time on injured reserve late last season due to a hamstring injury, but he did get some run in the NFC title game against the Rams and in the Super Bowl versus the Patriots. The Boise State product totaled 27 carries for 83 yards and one touchdown and six catches on seven targets for 49 yards in 13 appearances, including the playoffs. Now that he's locked in for 2026, Holani should be in the mix for touches with Emanuel Wilson as Zach Charbonnet completes his recovery from a torn ACL that he suffered in the divisional round, although the Seahawks may not be done adding pieces to their backfield.

Seahawks' George Holani: Staying in Seattle
The Seahawks tendered Holani to a one-year, league-minimum contract Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Holani was an exclusive rights free agent, and by being tendered, he will not be able to negotiate with another team during the offseason. He appeared in 11 regular-season games for the Seahawks in 2025, serving mostly on special teams as a gunner to go with 387 yards on 16 kickoff attempts. He also saw some backfield snaps on offense and finished with 22 carries for 73 yards and one touchdown while catching two passes (on as many targets) for 15 yards. Holani's role next season will depend on Zach Charbonnet's progression in his recovery from a torn ACL, as well as whether unrestricted free agent Kenneth Walker opts to return to Seattle.

Seahawks' George Holani: Three touches in Super Bowl
Holani rushed twice for six yards and caught his lone target for seven yards in Sunday's 29-13 Super Bowl win over the Patriots.
As expected, Kenneth Walker dominated the backfield, racking up 161 yards from scrimmage on 29 touches, but Holani was effective in his limited action. The second-year back out of Boise State finished the season with 27 carries for 83 yards (3.1 YPC) and a touchdown and six receptions for 49 yards through 13 games, including the postseason. With Rashid Shaheed on board, Holani's return duties evaporated in the second half, so he'll likely need to battle for a roster spot in 2026 regardless of the status of Zach Charbonnet (torn ACL).

Seahawks' George Holani: Six touches in return
Holani rushed three times for four yards and caught three of four targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 31-27 win over the Rams in the NFC Championship Game.
Holani's return from a hamstring injury he suffered Week 12 came just in time, as Zach Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL in the team's divisional-round win over the 49ers. Thus, Holani served as the No. 2 running back behind Kenneth Walker and handled a 34 percent snap share. The second-year running back out of Boise State previously handled kick-return duties, too, but the Seahawks traded for Rashid Shaheed, who has that job locked down heading into the Super Bowl versus the Patriots.

Seahawks' George Holani: Back from IR
Holani (hamstring) has been activated off IR by the Seahawks in advance of Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Rams, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Holani, who was placed on IR on Nov. 29 due to a hamstring injury, logged back-to-back full practices Wednesday and Thursday before being activated by Seattle on Friday. His looming return to the mix gives the team some needed depth at running back behind starter Kenneth Walker in the wake of Zach Charbonnet having suffered a season-ending knee injury during the divisional round. In 11 regular-season contests, Holani recorded 22 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown and two catches for 15 yards while also playing a key role on special teams.

Seahawks' George Holani: Designated to return from IR
The Seahawks designated Holani (hamstring) to return to practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reported that Holani said he was healthy when the four weeks of mandatory injured reserve time was up, and the running back has just been waiting for a chance to get back to work. The 26-year-old last played in the Week 12 win over the Titans, recording five special teams snaps. If Holani is activated in time for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Rams, he will be the No. 2 running back behind Kenneth Walker due to the injury to former No. 2 rusher Zach Charbonnet.

Seahawks' George Holani: Able to practice fully Wednesday
Holani (hamstring) was a full participant at practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Holani has spent Seattle's last seven games on its injured reserve list after hurting his hamstring in Week 12 at Tennessee, but it now seems like he could be on track to suit up for the NFC Championship. With 2023 second-rounder Zach Charbonnet (knee) already ruled out, Holani's status is worth keeping an eye on as Sunday's contest versus the Rams approaches.
